Full Job Description
As Equipment & Fleet Manager, you will lead the maintenance strategy, fleet reliability, and equipment performance of our growing operation. Working closely with Operations, Equipment Planning, Procurement, and Safety, you will ensure our fleet remains safe, reliable, cost-effective, and ready to support operational success. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who is passionate about maximizing uptime, driving continuous improvement, and developing high-performing teams.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the maintenance function across multiple business units and locations, ensuring maintenance activities support operational requirements and business objectives.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development to maintenance teams while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee preventative and predictive maintenance programs to maximize fleet availability, equipment reliability, and asset performance.
  • Prioritize and coordinate maintenance and repair activities to minimize downtime and ensure equipment is safe, compliant, and ready for operation.
  • Partner closely with Operations, Dispatch, and Planning teams to align maintenance schedules with fleet utilization and business demands.
  • Analyze maintenance data, equipment trends, and key performance indicators to identify opportunities for improved reliability, efficiency, and cost management.
  • Lead fleet lifecycle planning, including recommendations for equipment rebuilds, replacements, standardization initiatives, and capital investments.
  • Develop and continuously improve maintenance systems, processes, reporting, and best practices across the organization.
  • Manage relationships with vendors, suppliers, dealerships, and contractors to ensure high-quality, cost-effective service delivery and support.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, company policies, and safety standards while effectively managing maintenance budgets and resources.


Qualifications
  • 7+ years of progressive maintenance experience in transportation, trucking, forestry, heavy equipment, industrial, or related environments, including leadership responsibility for maintenance teams and operations.
  • Strong knowledge of preventative and predictive maintenance programs, equipment reliability, asset lifecycle management, and fleet performance optimization.
  • Experience managing heavy-duty truck fleets, mobile equipment, trailers, and related assets, with a proven ability to reduce downtime and improve equipment availability.
  • Demonstrated success leading maintenance planning, budgeting, vendor and contractor management, and continuous improvement initiatives in a multi-site or operationally complex environment.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to leverage maintenance data, KPIs, and operational insights to support decision-making, cost control, and capital planning.
  • Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic, Commercial Transport Mechanic, or related trade certification is preferred. Post-secondary education in Maintenance Management, Mechanical Engineering, Business, or a related field and experience with CMMS platforms are considered assets.
