Overview

Advanced Technologies & Laboratories International, Inc. (ATL) is hiring a Epidemiologist for MACS (Military Aviators Cancer Study) responsible for carrying out a full range of complex epidemiologic and research activities. In addition, incumbent will have responsibility for providing technical consultation and assistance to Federal, State, local and other health agencies concerning various complex epidemiology projects.

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities
  • Identifies and analyzes public health issues and their impact on public policies or scientific studies or surveys. Analyzes study or project implementation procedures for improvement; works with program specialists and/or scientists as appropriate, to develop more viable implementation procedures and coordinates with appropriate staff to make needed changes.
  • Identifies and analyzes public health issues and their impact on public policies or scientific studies or surveys.
  • Ensures the reliability and consistency of the data while measuring the data limitations. Efforts include the identification of inadequacies and inconsistencies in data; development of procedures and methodology to modify the data; and overseeing the modification of the data
  • Provides advice and assistance in the development and implementation of procedures, methods and strategies for obtaining and using scientific data which describe the prevalence of major health risks in an area, or the results of a scientific project or study.
  • Provides scientific consultative services to difficult programs or projects that have unusually demanding scientific problems or issues
  • Collaborates with analysts and statisticians to develop joint analyses and publications.
  • Participates in the syntheses of social science and epidemiologic data to be applied toward designing effective prevention programs and practice guidelines. The incumbent will work with public health officials and other scientists inside and outside of CDC to ensure that valid research findings are disseminated, used, and applied to prevention programs
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelors degree and 5 years of experience
