Full Job Description
Audubon is currently seeking a Senior EPC Buyer to join our team at our Houston Energy Corridor office. The Senior EPC Buyer is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, expediting, and coordinating materials, equipment, and services required for EPC projects. This role supports project execution by ensuring goods and services are procured on time, within budget, and in compliance with project specifications, company procedures, and client requirements. This role also plays a key role in strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, and procurement value creation across assigned projects and commodities. This position partners closely with project management, engineering, construction, logistics, quality, Accounts Payable, finance, and Project Controls teams to support successful project delivery, cost management, and forecasting.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review material requisitions, technical specifications, drawings, and project requirements to identify procurement needs.
  • Source and evaluate suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors for materials, equipment, and services.
  • Prepare and issue RFQs, evaluate supplier quotations, and support bid tabulations.
  • Negotiate pricing, delivery terms, payment terms, volume discounts, rebates, and commercial conditions.
  • Create and manage purchase orders, change orders, procurement records, vendor communications, purchasing logs, cost coding, commitment information, and closeout documentation.
  • Coordinate with engineering, project management, construction, logistics, quality, Accounts Payable, Project Controls, and other stakeholders to support project procurement needs.
  • Work closely with Project Controls to align procurement activities with budgets, forecasts, cost codes, commitments, schedules, cash flow, accruals, and cost-to-complete reporting.
  • Provide procurement status updates, committed cost information, and cost-impact information to support project reporting and forecasting.
  • Track supplier progress, delivery dates, commitments, and critical project materials; expedite orders to ensure on-time delivery and resolve supplier delays or issues.
  • Assist with invoice reconciliation, receiving issues, and procurement-related change order needs.
  • Support supplier qualification, performance evaluation, issue resolution, consolidation, preferred vendor programs, and long-term supplier agreements.
  • Ensure purchases comply with project budgets, schedules, specifications, client requirements, and company procurement policies.
  • Identify, track, and report cost savings, avoided costs, rebates, and procurement value contributions throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop and execute strategic sourcing initiatives that support project cost, schedule, quality, supplier performance, and company-wide purchasing power objectives.
  • Analyze spend data, supplier pricing, vendor performance, market trends, and total cost of ownership, including freight, lead time, warranty, quality, payment terms, and lifecycle cost, to support sourcing decisions.
  • Build and maintain strategic supplier relationships to improve pricing, delivery performance, service levels, and long-term value.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to identify early procurement opportunities that reduce cost, improve lead times, and minimize project risk.
  • Continuously review procurement processes and supplier agreements for opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce cost.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, engineering, construction management, or related field preferred.
  • Experience in procurement, purchasing, expediting, strategic sourcing, or supply chain support.
  • Experience supporting EPC, engineering, construction, oil and gas, industrial, or energy projects.
  • Familiarity with purchase orders, RFQs, vendor quotes, bid evaluations, supplier negotiations, and procurement documentation.
  • Understanding of supplier agreements, project controls, cost codes, commitments, and purchasing controls preferred.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, organization, and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook.

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of engineered equipment, bulk materials, electrical, mechanical, piping, instrumentation, or construction-related commodities.
  • Strong understanding of strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, supplier agreements, and cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Ability to analyze pricing, spend data, vendor performance, committed costs, and total cost of ownership.
  • Understanding of project schedules, budgets, cost codes, forecasting, lead times, logistics, and supplier coordination.
  • Ability to read basic technical documents, specifications, drawings, and material requisitions.
  • Strong attention to detail and cost-control mindset.
  • Experience working with vendors, subcontractors, Project Controls, and cross-functional project teams.
  • Ability to identify procurement risks, cost impacts, and budget variances and recommend solutions.
  • Strong documentation, reporting, and follow-up skills.

Working Conditions

This role is office-based and requires working in the office five days per week. Occasional travel to supplier locations, project sites, client offices, or company locations may be required as needed. The position may require extended hours during critical project deadlines, urgent procurement activities, supplier issues, reporting cycles, or major project milestones.
