  • Incorporate vendor packages for instrumentation and electrical components into project designs.
  • Support design development for PLC, DCS, SCADA, and BAS systems while performing clash detection using 3D tools.
  • Conduct material and cable take-offs and compile construction deliverables.
  • Engage in model and constructability reviews to ensure project specifications are met.

Full Job Description
The EPC IC&E Designer-Drafter is responsible for developing detailed design and construction deliverables for instrumentation, controls, and electrical systems supporting engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects. This role supports the creation and development of 2D and 3D models, drawings, layouts, and design packages, ensuring systems are accurate, constructible, and aligned with project specifications, industry standards, and client requirements.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain 2D drawings and 3D models for instrumentation, controls, and electrical systems.
  • Prepare design deliverables such as:
    • Instrument location plans
    • Loop diagrams
    • Wiring diagrams
    • Interconnection diagrams
    • Cable schedules
    • Cable tray layouts
    • Conduit routing drawings
    • Junction box layouts
    • Control panel layouts
    • Electrical equipment layouts
  • Interpret and work from:
    • PFDs
    • P&IDs
    • Instrument Indexes
    • I/O Lists
    • Control Narratives
    • Electrical One-Line Diagrams
  • Coordinate with process, mechanical, piping, civil, and electrical engineers to ensure design accuracy and integration.
  • Incorporate instrumentation and electrical vendor packages into overall project designs.
  • Support PLC, DCS, SCADA, and BAS system design development.
  • Perform clash detection and resolve design conflicts using 3D modeling tools.
  • Support material take-offs (MTOs), cable take-offs, and construction deliverables.
  • Review vendor drawings and incorporate design revisions into project documents.
  • Support field construction activities by addressing design questions and updating drawings as required.
  • Maintain document control and revision management throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Participate in model reviews and constructability reviews.

Qualifications:
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering Design, Electrical Engineering Technology, Instrumentation Technology, or related field.
  • 4-8 years of experience in industrial EPC, electrical, or instrumentation design environments.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, Plant 3D, Navisworks, SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI/InTools), SmartPlant 3D (SP3D), AVEVA E3D, or similar software.
  • Strong understanding of industrial instrumentation, control systems, electrical distribution, and plant design principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, loop drawings, wiring diagrams, one-line diagrams, control narratives, and engineering specifications.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation, data center, HVAC, water/wastewater, or industrial infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with PLC systems, DCS systems, SCADA systems, BAS systems, and industrial communications networks
  • Knowledge of NEC, ISA, IEEE, NFPA, and applicable industry standards.
