Responsibilities

Ideal candidate has 2 years of EP or Device nurse experience and a BSN.

As well as 5 to 10 years of nursing exp.

Overview

Located on the campus of Missouri Baptist Medical Center, the Nurse Practitioner position will support both our Arrhythmia Center and Valve Clinic. The centers include highly trained and hospital-based specialists. As a nurse practitioner in the centers, you will work alongside our cardiac electrophysiologists and partner with structural heart cardiologists, heart surgeons and interventional cardiologists to care for every type of cardiac condition.

Role Purpose

Responsible for leading a team of clinical professionals in the management of lifetime implanted cardiac devices. Exemplify the professional and interpersonal skills necessary to educate, organize and implement workflows across multiple sites of care. Must demonstrate the professional and technical skills to evaluate patients with cardiac rhythm management devices, including program settings and troubleshoot in collaboration with electrophysiology specialists. Acquires, maintains, and integrates knowledge of scientific principles and derived technology-based interventions and therapies in cardiac pacing, defibrillation, and electrophysiology to provide and facilitate the provision of safe, optimal patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Triages and prioritizes patient plan of care and communicates information to providers/patients in a timely manner. Demonstrates triage skills pertinent to determining normal and abnormal conditions. Reviews patient information including device, health history, medications and health status. Provides appropriate education and support to patient and/or family.
  • Responsible for documenting patient contacts regarding any company recalls including more frequent monitoring and taking appropriate actions for any required device changes.
  • Coordinates, assigns and guides the work activities of other device management team. This position monitors work schedules, maintains department scheduling guidelines, provides team oversight, educates and mentor's new staff.
  • Leads day-to-day operations and coordination of patient care services within outpatient clinic. Partners with clinic manager to improve patient safety and throughput. Identifies clinical indicators to measure care and monitor clinic progress in meeting KPIs and organizational initiatives. Maintains compliance with clinical guidelines and systematic policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for performing in person and/or remote interrogations and any necessary reprogramming of cardiac devices. Interpret arrhythmias, troubleshoot, and reprogram settings of pacemakers and defibrillators according to patient's needs and department protocols. Independently documents each instance of patient care in electronic medical record. Assures the accuracy and completeness of documentation. Adheres to billing guidelines.
