About the Role

The Hudson Valley and Connecticut planning and land development practice is seeking a planner to support our growing base of public, private, institutional, and nonprofit clients throughout the region. We are a multidisciplinary team fully-versed in local, state, and federal permitting and regulatory requirements with particular expertise in land use, zoning, environmental planning, and economic development. Members of our team have held leadership positions with the Urban Land Institute, American Planning Association, Westchester Municipal Planning Federation, and other organizations - bringing familiarity with the latest market trends and professional best practices to our work. The candidate would be based in our White Plains or Stamford, CT office.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage, prepare, and review planning analyses, technical reports, and environmental review documents in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), New York State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA), and New York City Environmental Quality Review (CEQR).
  • Conduct site plan reviews, zoning compliance analyses, and comparative studies of land use, demographic conditions, municipal fiscal impacts, and economic activity.
  • Manage multidisciplinary internal teams and outside consultants in the preparation of environmental review and planning documents.
  • Coordinate with clients, consultants, and regulatory agencies throughout the planning and environmental review process.
  • Manage project scopes, budgets, schedules, and deliverables.
  • Lead community outreach and public engagement activities.
  • Attend evening municipal board meetings.


Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in urban planning or a related field.
  • 2 to 5 years of professional municipal, land development, or consulting firm experience.
  • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) preferred.
  • Solution-focused and thrives working on multiple projects.
  • Enjoys working in a collaborative atmosphere.
  • Excellent research, quantitative, written, interpersonal, and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and deadline driven.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and working knowledge of GIS.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to travel throughout New York State and Connecticut.


Compensation

Compensation will range from $80k to $95k, and commensurate with experience.
