Full Job Description
The Durability Demonstration Vehicle (DDV) test program supports achieving OBD (On-Board Diagnostics) certification approval for our vehicles. The OBD DDV Test Engineer is responsible for the preparation and testing of emissions certification vehicles, which includes:
• Resolving test vehicle issues, requesting vehicle updates and acquiring parts, as-needed
• Loading vehicle calibrations (module flashes) and running associated vehicle update procedures
• Coordinating mileage accumulation activities for test vehicles
• Creating & submitting chassis dynamometer test requests and reviewing resulting data
• Posting final test reports into internal corporate databases
• Managing fleet of certification vehicles
• Supporting other compliance requests with test data, as-needed
In addition to the responsibilities for the DDV program, the selected candidate will serve in a supporting role for other tailpipe, EVAP or OBD test programs.
This is an onsite position at the Chrysler Technology Center in Auburn Hills, MI. Occasional off shift/weekend test support may be required.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in automotive testing (with an emphasis on emissions, fuel economy or OBD)
• Demonstrated organizational/tracking skills. (This position requires tracking multiple vehicles through a complex testing process)
• Must have strong computer skills with a focus on data analysis (MS Excel and data processing/analysis tools)
• Knowledge of North American emissions regulations, testing and certification processes/procedures
• Ability to work onsite with non-bargaining unit and bargaining unit personnel in labs and garages
• Strong interpersonal skills required for interacting with powertrain and vehicle development teams
Preferred Qualifications:
• Hybrid and/or Electric vehicle testing experience is a plus
• Propulsion system calibration or aftertreatment system experience is desired
• Experience with vehicle diagnostics and Controller Area Network (CAN) data collection
• Exposure to corporate software applications (test request/processing system, calibration tools & applications, etc.)
