This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.
As a test engineer, you will be supporting our mission to return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:- Execute an entire environmental test campaign from planning to data collection
- Participate in the assembly and test of development and flight hardware including planning, execution, data reduction and analysis
- Identify and assist in designing of Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE)
- Lead daily test operations, operate test consoles, direct technician work and coordinate with internal customers
- Perform root cause, system hazard analysis and failure investigations
- Troubleshoot issues that arise during testing, including managing procedural redlines and updates during test campaigns
- Proactively communicate with Responsible Engineers and immediate leadership throughout test planning and execution
- Participate in test readiness reviews, pre and post-test briefings, and post-test reviews
- Coordinate test crews, support equipment and configurations for testing
- Enforce safety policies during test planning and operations
Minimum Qualifications- Passion for our mission: Millions of people living and working in space!
- BS or MS in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related technical discipline
- 2+ years experience, including test-specific experience
- Experience in one or more of the following: Thermal vacuum testing, acoustic testing, modal testing, shock testing
- Ability to identify tasking and manage personal workload across multiple test campaigns
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
- Basic understanding in the fundamentals of design (requirements identification, material selection, input definition, form factors, interface definition, environmental considerations, etc.)
- Basic proficiency in 3D CAD programs (Creo Pro/E preferred) including drawing creation
Preferred Qualifications- Experience with space vehicle component or integrated vehicle testing including acoustic, modal and shock
- Experience with participating in NASA technical reviews
- Experience with test facility instrumentation and Data Acquisition and Control Systems, including troubleshooting analog and digital hardware with bench measurement equipment
- Understands/experience with hazardous operations
- Experience with control actuators, deployable devices (doors, landing gear, sensors, etc.), hydraulic system components, separation systems, or other mechanical systems
- Familiarity with sensors including linear variable differential transformers, strain gages, thermocouples, accelerometers, and pressure transducers
