Job Description:

Maryland Environmental Service has an opening for an Environmental Systems Regional Supervisor in the Northern Region of Maryland, which includes Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Harford, Cecil, and Montgomery counties. This position is responsible for the overall management of water, wastewater, and industrial wastewater treatment systems. Responsibilities include overseeing all operations and maintenance activities, as well as the administration and supervision of regional personnel.

Estimated Pay Range:

$93,440.94 - $128,481.30

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or state high school equivalency certificate and satisfactory completion of the following self-study courses from the California State University, Sacramento (CSUS):

1. The four (CSUS) courses must be approved by the Manager of Water/Wastewater Operations. If all or additional courses are needed to meet this requirement, MES will allow 18 months for the employee to complete the required courses. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment.

2. The Manage for Success or equivalent CSUS management course that is approved by the MES Training Office must also be completed for this position.

AND 1 year as an Environmental Systems Assistant Regional Supervisor with the Maryland Environmental Service.

OR 8 years of progressively responsible experience as an operator of water, wastewater or industrial wastewater treatment systems, including at least 3 years supervising subordinate plant personnel.

Must have a valid driver's license with less than 5 points.

  • Must hold a valid operator9s certificate that the Maryland State Board of Waterworks and Waste Systems Operators considers appropriate for either: Wastewater Class 5; or Water Class 4.

  • Must have a passing score on an operator certification examination accepted by the Board for Wastewater Class 5.

  • Must have a passing score on an operator certification examination accepted by the Board for Water Class 4.

  • Must have a passing score on a third operator certification examination accepted by the Maryland State Board of Waterworks and Waste Systems Operators for operator certification in Maryland.

  • The third examination must be passed within 24 months of beginning employment in the Maryland Environmental Service9s water/wastewater environmental systems operator job series.

This position will be open until filled.

Any offer of employment will be contingent upon successfully completing required pre-employment screens, to include full background check, drug & alcohol screening, and position appropriate physical.
