Position: Environmental Systems Field Service Technician

Position Summary

The Environmental Systems Field Service Technician is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of environmental test chambers used in production and engineering environments. This role ensures equipment operates reliably, accurately, and safely to support testing requirements. The technician will diagnose system failures, perform corrective repairs, and maintain chamber performance in accordance with manufacturer specifications and internal maintenance standards.

This position requires strong troubleshooting skills and a solid understanding of refrigeration systems, as well as the ability to work independently while coordinating with engineering and production teams to minimize equipment downtime.

What You Will Do:
  • Perform preventive maintenance on environmental chambers to ensure consistent performance, reliability, and compliance with test requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration system failures in environmental test equipment.
  • Identify root causes of equipment malfunctions and perform necessary repairs in a timely manner.
  • Apply proficient knowledge of refrigeration systems, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, refrigerants, and control systems, to support repairs and maintenance activities.
  • Repair or replace defective components such as sensors, controllers, valves, relays, heaters, fans, and refrigeration system parts.
  • Conduct system performance checks, calibration verification, and operational testing after maintenance or repair activities.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records in equipment databases or CMMS systems.
  • Support preventive maintenance scheduling and coordinate chamber availability with Production and Engineering teams.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and company procedures.
  • Collaborate with Test Support Engineering and Maintenance teams to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and support emergency repairs when required.
  • Perform additional maintenance or technical tasks as assigned.

What You Will Bring:
  • Minimum of 5+ years of technical experience in equipment maintenance, HVAC, refrigeration, industrial maintenance, or environmental test systems
  • 8+ years of HVAC experience preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of refrigeration systems and associated components.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and control system issues efficiently.
  • Experience performing preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on industrial or test equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
  • Experience using CMMS systems or maintenance tracking databases.
  • Good communication skills and ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness to work overtime or off-shift hours as required to support operations.
  • Experience working with environmental test chambers or thermal cycling equipment.
  • HVAC certification or formal refrigeration training.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, semiconductor, or regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with calibration and validation requirements for environmental testing systems.

Pay Range: $44/hour-$47/hour

Compensation decisions are made based on factors including experience, skills, education, and other job-related factors, in accordance with our internal pay structure. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, paid time off, and retirement plan.

Work Requirements: This position is located on-site in Phoenix, AZ.
  • You must be able to commute to and from the location with your own transportation arrangements to meet the required working hours.
  • Shop floor environment, which may include but not limited to extensive walking, and ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

Travel Requirements: Due to the nature of the work, no travel is required.

Citizenship Requirement: Due to the nature of the work, U.S. citizenship is required.
