About the Job:We are seeking an
Environmental Superintendent for our Rochester operation near Lovelock, NV. This position will report to the Environmental Manager. The successful candidate will be expected to provide leadership to the geology department.
This position will require company supported relocation to Lovelock, NV to work a 4 days on, 3 days off schedule.
Responsibilities:- Ensure that all mining and exploration operations comply with federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations.
- Review, finalize and submit environmental reports and documentation to regulatory agencies.
- Provide support on the management of key environmental issues including water and waste management, air quality, and contractor management.
- Assist the Environmental Manager and the Permitting Manager with amendments to the Plan of Operations and NEPA activities.
- Assists in preparation for, and participation in, public information meetings and hearings
- Assist in state and federal permitting for projects including reviewing NEPA-compliant documentation (DNA, EA and EIS), baseline reports, assisting with and organizing mitigation projects.
- Complete permit renewal and modification applications and supporting compliance documentation at a higher compliance level
- Serve as a lead for closure and reclamation plans, reports and activities.
- Provides input and assists the Environmental Manager and Operations personnel in the planning and response to environmental issues and concerns.
- Serve as a lead for the AFE and RFP/SOW processes, planning, scheduling, and monitoring all environmental aspects for environmental capital projects and help ensure that resources are available for the timely completion of all capital projects.
- Serve as a lead for environmental compliance for site projects
- Ensures compliance with the required environmental deliverables through inspections, physical audits, and timely correction of identified deficiencies. Assists with the implementation of the environmental management system.
- Supervises, coaches and assists in the development of Environmental Team.
- Develop and update monitoring and reporting protocols in accordance with state and federal statutes and regulations.
- Support the Environmental Manager with forming and/or serving as an assisting lead on task forces or work groups to identify and resolve environmental compliance or enforcement issues
- Supervise activities of external contractors/consultants involved with environmental compliance, permitting and reclamation projects.
- Provide Environmental training to staff as requested.
Experience & Qualifications:Qualifications to include any combination of education and experience that provide the required skill and knowledge for the successful performance of the position.
- BS, MS, or Technical Degree in environmental, biological, or earth sciences and 7 years of environmental experience within the mining industry or related industry.
- Alternatively, 12 years of equivalent environmental management experience.
- Working knowledge of Federal and State regulations and permit requirements.
- Strong leadership qualities: character, teamwork, communication, business sense, supervision experience and vision.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database applications.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work well within a team environment.
- Strong analytical ability, problem-solving skills, & work ethic
- 5 to 10 years of environmental experience at an operational mine
- Working knowledge of Nevada environmental regulations
- Skilled in GIS mapping
