Responsibilities

  • Supervise and train Environmental Scientist staff in executing hazardous waste program tasks.
  • Distribute workloads effectively within the Waste Permits Section.
  • Collaborate with mid and upper-level management to achieve program goals.
  • Engage with external stakeholders including regulated communities, the public, and other state or federal agencies.
  • Oversee implementation and compliance measures for hazardous waste permitting initiatives.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

The Waste Permits Section is responsible for a number of required duties & activities involving the Hazardous Waste Program. The Environmental Scientist Supervisor in this section plays an integral role in the Section accomplishing its goals and objectives as it relates to the responsibilities of the Hazardous Waste Program. Overseeing and supervising the Environmental Scientist staff to ensure their work is distributed and accomplished effectively and that staff is trained appropriately, as well as working with mid and upper-level management and outside entities (such as the regulated community, general public and other state and federal agencies) are a few items this position entails.

Position-Specific Details:

This position is in the Waste Permits Division within the Office of Environmental Services. This position is domiciled at Headquarters in East Baton Rouge Parish.

This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) as follows:
Environmental Scientist Supervisor - $31.38 per hour or $2,510.20 biweekly
