Job Description
Provide engineering, environmental consulting, and project management services in support of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Waste Cleanup Program. Responsibilities include conducting and leading environmental site assessments and investigations associated with petroleum, drycleaning, and hazardous waste contamination sites; evaluating site conditions; and developing cost-effective remediation strategies in accordance with FDEP regulations and guidance.
Perform engineering analyses, environmental risk evaluations, remedial design, and preparation of technical plans, specifications, and reports to support site rehabilitation and regulatory closure objectives. Prepare Site Assessment Reports (SARs), Remedial Action Plans (RAPs), Limited Scope Assessments (LSAs), Monitoring Reports, No Further Action (NFA) recommendations, and other technical documents required by FDEP programs.
Coordinate with FDEP project managers, local agencies, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations. Prepare permit applications, risk assessments, technical memoranda, proposals, and regulatory correspondence. Design and oversee implementation of remediation systems including soil excavation, groundwater treatment, monitored natural attenuation, and source removal activities.
Conduct field oversight activities including soil and groundwater sampling, monitoring well installation and abandonment, underground storage tank (UST) closure assessments, contamination delineation, and remedial system operation and maintenance. Apply sound engineering and scientific principles to communicate complex technical issues and remediation strategies effectively to regulatory agencies, clients, and project teams. Additional services may include Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, Brownfields investigations, contamination assessments, and environmental compliance support related to FDEP waste cleanup initiatives.

Works closely with senior-level project managers to gain additional project management experience for more complex and larger projects.May devise new approaches to problems encountered.May serve as a team leader in medium projects and mentor junior level scientists/engineers.Performs complex scientific analyses on projects of own discipline.May attend on and off-site client meetings.Implements technical requirements to complete client projects by directing and supervising field staff to sample, test and collect data and/or document site activities.Responsible for developing written proposals to clients for both small and large projects including quality control review of proposals written by others.Evaluates complex laboratory and field data and assembles in written reports.Work under the supervision of a Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer.Begin documented mentoring and application process for Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer certification.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering or related degree.Minimum 5-8 years' experience.Master's degree in Environmental Engineering preferred.A valid driver's license with acceptable violation history may be required.
