Duties

Help

• You will support the compliance program as part of the Environmental Division within the Public Works Department located at Naval Base San Diego.
• You will be responsible for coordinating and managing installation aspects of environmental plans for air, water, and/or hazardous waste programs.
• You will keep informed of new/proposed developments in and ensure compliance with permits issued by local, State, and Federal regulatory agencies, and with Navy policies.
• You will serve as point of contact for environmental regulatory visits and inspections of assigned areas of responsibility.
• You will support response to and oversight of spill response team actions.
• You will recommend and implement corrective actions for compliance and permit deviations.

• Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
• Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

• You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
• You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

1)Ensuring operations satisfy conditions of environmental permits;

2)Conducting site investigations and surveys to determine environmental compliance requirements in assigned media(s);

3)Planning requirements, programming funds, budgeting programs, and executing work to support environmental media compliance efforts;

4)Supporting preparation of technical reports, standard operating procedures, correspondence, and local facility guidance documents to achieve and support compliance with compliance requirements;

5)Implementing processes, procedures, and principles of an Environmental Management System to support an organization's environmental programs; and

6)Communicating progress, status, and approval to evolve efficient and technically adequate responses to environmental issues.
