Your Opportunity

As an Environmental Planner you will work in a dynamic team environment with other environmental planners, engineers, environmental scientists, ecologists, and regulatory experts. This position will include opportunities for primarily office work; some field work and travel for meetings and conferences will be required.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and deliver multi-disciplinary environmental services including; environmental planning, environmental permitting, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and Hawaii Environmental Policy Act (HEPA) environmental documents
  • Assist with all aspects of a project, including client contact, budget control and invoicing, schedule, personnel allocation/planning, public interest facilitation, technical approach, and subcontractor involvement
  • Coordinate with clients, regulatory/resource agencies, local governments. Manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Conduct and direct desktop and field research, impact analyses, and prepare technical documentation
  • Mentor junior staff

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification or Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) certification desired
  • Thorough understanding of technical environmental impact analysis methods and sound knowledge of NEPA/HEPA requirements and related environmental regulations
  • Working knowledge of Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) project requirements is an asset
  • Team oriented with strong capability to motivate others
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with experience presenting at public workshops and facilitating meetings with regulatory/resource agencies
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple planning projects and ability to motivate self and others to overcome obstacles and achieve goals
  • Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and to prioritize and balance sometimes heavy workloads to achieve goals while keeping up with a highly mobile and changing environment
  • Ensure QA/QC and Health &Safety requirements and procedures are identified and followed throughout a project's life cycle
  • Must demonstrate an ability in collaborative problem solving with stakeholders, clients, and teammates
  • Must be a highly motivated self-starter
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. ArcGIS and SharePoint a plus
  • Team player with demonstrated ability to work well with others, to keep other team members aware of project and client needs
  • Must have the ability to work in the field if necessary in all weather conditions
  • Must be able to travel as needed for project assignments, meetings, conferences
  • Must have a good driving record and valid driver's license

Education and Experience
  • B.S. in planning and/or related engineering or environmental discipline; a master's degree is desirable
  • Five or more years of experience performing analysis, consulting, and providing recommendations for various types of clients
  • Experience working with state/local departments in Hawaii
  • Experience preferred working with county departments in Honolulu, Maui, Kauai, and Hawaii.
  • Experience working with local subconsultants
  • Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.

Office environment with prolonged sitting and computer work, or combination of office and field. When circumstances allow, some travel may be required (approximately 25%), such as meeting attendance at agencies or clients. May occasionally visit study areas and/or be exposed to outside elements and inclement weather conditions.

Pay Range:
• Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & Various CA, NJ Areas-$94,300.00 - $136,700.00 Annually

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
