FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Hourly

Reports To: Regional Manager

Job Type: Full-Time, Regular

Compensation: $35 - $52/hr depending on experience

Location: Nationwide (Continental U.S.)

JOB SUMMARY: The Planner position will provide environmental planning expertise to lead or assist in obtaining local, state and/or federal permits for projects related to energy, telecommunications, water, or mining industries.

  • Complete tasks associated with NEPA or other local, state and federal permitting
  • Research requirements for a variety of local, state and federal permits
  • Collaborate with staff, agencies, clients and other project collaborators to facilitate permit submittals and schedules
  • Synthesize and communicate permit stipulations and requirements
  • Track and organize permit processes and status
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings
  • Support, actively participate, and act in accordance with Wright's and Eocene Environmental Group's culture of safety and employee ownership
  • Comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • B.S. degree in environmental planning and/or a closely related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with or for federal, state, or local agencies
  • Strong knowledge of NEPA
  • Strong writing and analysis skills with the ability to provide examples
  • Ability to perform work duties independently and efficiently with short deadlines
  • Highly organized, motivated, thorough, accurate, dependable, and trustworthy
  • Ability to interact and coordinate with state, federal, local, and tribal agencies
  • Willingness and ability to participate in business and client relationship development as needed
  • Detailed task tracking and note-taking ability
  • Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with employees and vendors


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
  • M.S. degree in environmental planning and/or a closely related discipline
  • Experience with Routing and Siting Studies
  • Experience working with or for federal, state, or local agencies is a plus
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Organizing and facilitating coordination meetings, both in person and virtual, for multi-disciplinary teams across a variety of internal and external parties
  • Public outreach and engagement
  • Familiarity with typical utility operations and maintenance activities
  • Familiarity with Salesforce and ESRI GIS applications (including desktop, ArcGIS, Collector, Survey123, etc.)
  • Excellent navigation skills and good driving record
  • Experience driving a four-wheel drive vehicle off-road or in rough terrain
