Full Job Description
As part of this project, we are currently looking for a Environmental Management System (EMS) Compliance Coordinator to join our team.

What You Will Do:
  • Assist Environmental Director with the development, implementation, maintenance, and updating of the Environmental Management System in accordance with ISO 14001 and the PA.
  • Ensure EMS documentation (Policies, procedure, work instruction) is accurate and up to date.
  • Work in coordination with site environmental inspector to ensure EMS documentation, records and trackers are organized and maintained up to date in the EMS software solution.
  • Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot IT tools as part of the EMS for environmental training, suppliers' management, inspections (e.g., ISN, LMS and QMS).
  • Prepare draft of annual Management Review of the EMS in accordance with the specs of EMS manual and ISO 14001 standard.
  • Carry out the consolidation of environmental data that is reported to Project Controls or any other parent companies reports, as needed.
  • EMS data analysis and visualization. Create and maintain dashboards and stats of key EMS performance data to support decision making and improvement.
  • Prepare EMS internal comms materials (e.g. bulletin, newsletter, etc.) in collaboration with Comms Team and the Environmental Team.
  • Work in collaboration with Compliance Officer and Inspectors to develop and deliver EMS training required for employees and contractors.
  • Prepare and deliver annual EMS training / refreshment sessions for STC personnel
  • Perform spot checks/Identify data gaps in the EMS documentation and PA submittals.
  • Attend EWG meeting and draft meeting minutes. Chair EWG when required and help prepare EWG presentation.
  • Assist Compliance Officer/Env Manager with facilitating the logistics and coordinating audits (e.g. annual EMS audit, independent compliance audits, quality audits)
  • Track and report on Project Environmental KPIs and EMS objectives.
  • Assist/coordinate with Compliance Officer/Environmental Manager and Environmental Quality Manager actions required to address resolution of environmental non-conformances.
  • Consolidate sustainability data and coordinate with other supporting functions/disciplines to deliver the biannual Construction Sustainability Report.
  • Maintain and track the environmental submittals under the Submittal Tracker to support Commercial discussions.
  • Assist with environmental budget forecast, accruals and preparation of administrative documentation in support of procurement needs and managing of subs providing services to the Environmental Team.
  • Educate other environmental team members on administrative procedures related to procurement of environmental goods and services, subs administration, invoicing, cost control and payment approvals.
  • Secondment of Compliance officer duties when required.
  • Assist with additional tasks as defined by the Environmental Director.


Experience You Will Bring:
  • 5+ years of experience in the environmental industry.
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in an Environmental or any other relevant discipline (eg. Environmental Science, or Civil Engineering with environmental background).
  • ISO 14001 auditor certification
  • Experience with Implementation and auditing Environmental Management Systems (EMS) under ISO 14001 standard.
  • Proficiency in data management tools and analysis to inform decision making.
  • Understanding of environmental regulations and best practices in Ontario.
  • Experience with major transit projects is an asset.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Valid Ontario driver's license (Class G) required.


Compensation: $95,000 - $115,000 annually. The listed salary range reflects potential base pay and considers factors such as experience, education, and training. Each candidate is evaluated individually and offers toward the higher end may be extended to those with exceptional qualifications.
