Full Job Description
Summary

The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist I supports the execution and continuous improvement of SENS' Environmental, Health & Safety Management System by partnering with employees, supervisors, engineering, quality, laboratory, and operations teams to promote a safe, compliant, and proactive work environment.

Responsibilities

Safety Culture & Employee Engagement
  • Promote and actively support the SENS safety culture through positive employee engagement, coaching, and visible leadership on the production floor.
  • Conduct routine safety observations and behavior-based safety coaching.
  • Support employees and supervisors in identifying hazards and implementing corrective actions.
  • Assist in driving employee participation in the SAFER Hazard Reporting Program.
  • Facilitate safety awareness initiatives, campaigns, and recognition programs.
  • Serve as an active member of the First Responder Team.


Daily Operational Support
  • Maintain a strong floor presence supporting manufacturing, warehouse, laboratory, engineering, and office operations.
  • Participate in Tier II production meetings.
  • Support supervisors with hazard identification and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Assist departments with implementation of EHS policies and safe work practices.
  • Support laboratory safety compliance and routine inspections.


Risk Assessment & Hazard Reduction
  • Conduct Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), risk assessments, and hazard evaluations for equipment, processes, and tasks.
  • Assist Engineering with process hazard reviews and implementation of engineering controls.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce operational risk using the hierarchy of controls.
  • Assist with FMEA/RPN documentation as applicable.


Incident Investigation & Corrective Actions
  • Respond to workplace incidents, near misses, and property damage events.
  • Collect incident information including photographs, witness statements, and initial documentation.
  • Participate in incident investigations and Root Cause Analysis activities.
  • Track corrective actions through completion and verify effectiveness.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences, Safety Management, OSH or other relevant discipline OR Associate's degree with 2+ years of relevant manufacturing EHS experience OR 4+ years of relevant manufacturing EHS experience.


Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of EHS (Environmental, Health & Safety) experience within a in manufacturing, laboratory, or industrial operations environment.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations.
  • Experience with Hazard Communication, LOTO, Machine Guarding, Electrical Safety, and PPE.
  • Experience performing Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
  • Experience supporting safety committees and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Experience maintaining EHS records and compliance documentation.
  • Experience with ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001.


Physical Requirements
  • Frequent standing and walking throughout manufacturing and laboratory environments.
  • Frequent climbing stairs and navigating production areas.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, and reach.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to wear required PPE in production and laboratory environments.


Location: Longmont, CO

Base Compensation: $78,000 - $86,000 is the projected range of annual base salary for this role depending on the candidate's overall qualifications and experience.

Bonus: This position is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

Closing Date: August 31st. While we expect to keep the position open through this date, the posting may be extended or closed early based on applicant volume and hiring needs.
