Full Job Description
We are looking for a proactive and experienced Health and Safety Manager to lead safety initiatives across our manufacturing facility in Rural Retreat, Virginia. In this role, you will drive a strong safety culture, ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, and implement programs that protect employees and promote a safe, healthy, and accident-free workplace. Key Responsibilities • Create an environment that reduces or eliminates occupational injuries due to work related accidents. Monitors production floor for all safety issues. • Serve as committee chair for site Safety Team and as a team member of the Corporate Safety Team in Gordonsville. • Stays knowledgeable, plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations. • Plans and implements programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices, fire prevention, and correct safe working techniques. • Prepares studies and analyses of Plant or Site accident causes and hazards to health and proposes corrective actions for use by company personnel and outside agencies. • Inspects organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented. • Provides information, signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of potential and actual safety hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions. • Represents the organization in community or industry safety groups and programs. • Complies with all corporate safety policies and procedures. • Helps site drive circularity and sustainability. • Performs other assignments as directed to ensure that the Site provides all customers with exceptional value in products and services. Qualifications & Experience • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience. • 5-7 years of relevant experience and/or training, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment. • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and occupational safety practices. • Experience in safety program implementation, risk assessments, incident investigations, and employee training. • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. • Ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization and drive results through collaboration. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel overnight to other Klöckner Pentaplast facilities and safety-related events. Work Environment & Physical Requirements This is a hands-on role within a manufacturing environment, requiring regular interaction with production areas. The position involves standing, walking, and occasional climbing, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Exposure to moving machinery, chemicals, elevated areas, and varying weather conditions may occur.
