Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist II

Role Overview:

The EHS Safety Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving site safety programs to protect employees, contractors, and visitors. This role partners with operations, maintenance, and leadership teams to identify hazards, maintain regulatory compliance, investigate incidents, deliver safety training, and foster a strong safety culture throughout the organization.

This is an on-site role at our Devens, MA site with expected hours 8AM-5PM M-F.

Core Responsibilities:

• Lead and maintain site safety programs, policies, and initiatives to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.
• Conduct safety inspections, hazard assessments, and risk evaluations; recommend and implement corrective actions to reduce workplace risks.
• Investigate workplace incidents, injuries, and near-misses to determine root causes and drive corrective and preventive actions.
• Ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations, company standards, and industry best practices.
• Manage contractor safety programs, including onboarding, training, and verification of site-specific safety requirements.
• Develop and deliver safety training on topics such as hazard recognition, PPE, emergency response, and safe work practices.
• Support emergency preparedness activities, including drills, response planning, and employee awareness programs.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, engineering, science or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in an EHS related position
• Knowledge of occupational safety regulations, hazard identification, risk assessment methodologies, and safety management systems.
• Experience supporting or managing safety programs, inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and training skills with the ability to influence safe work practices at all levels of the organization.
• Professional safety certification such as ASP, CSP, CHST, or equivalent preferred.
• Experience working in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, chemical manufacturing, or regulated industry preferred.
• Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time while in plant, reaching, handling, twisting, and bending spine at waist if operating equipment.

Salary Range:

The salary range for this role is $105,000-$115,000. This range represents a good-faith estimate of the compensation we expect to offer for this position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be based on factors such as relevant experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity. In exceptional cases, compensation may exceed the stated range.

All full-time employees are eligible to participate in our annual incentive bonus program. Bonus targets vary by career level and are based on individual and company performance.
