Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in program or project management.
  • Experience with Environmental Health and Safety Regulations in a data center or similar mission critical environments.
  • Experience communicating with AHJ's (Federal, State, and Local Authorities) for notifications and permit conformance.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Credentials or certifications from Board of Certified Safety Professionals, NEBOSH or equivalent agencies.
  • Master's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Data Center or electrical safety experience.
  • Ability to advise, coach, influence, and collaborate with employees to achieve positive EHS outcomes.


About the job

As part of the Compliance, Strategy, and Risk Management (CSRM) Team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Program for our Data Centers and Technical Infrastructure assets including EHS management system, environmental compliance programs, safety compliance, health conformance and regional/site oversight. Your primary responsibility will be to collaborate closely with cross-functional teams within Google Data Center departments and contractors to identify and address EHS concerns, risk identification and mitigation. You help ensure the safety of the operations workforce, protection of the environment, and Google's business. Furthermore, you will provide guidance with the implementation of new and critical EHS initiatives. Your efforts will contribute to the continuous improvement and iteration of our EHS programs.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $132000 - $189000 (USD) 15% bonus target equity benefits

Responsibilities
  • Anticipate issues, propose solutions, and identify needs to develop or improve EHS Operations tools/processes. Evaluate incident data and track corrective actions.
  • Evaluate EHS impact during data center design reviews, equipment, and process changes. Perform EHS risk evaluations and define process controls for new processes.
  • Ensure comprehensive Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) compliance, manage permits/KPIs. Provide site ownership and drive EHS turn-up of new locations with little supervision, demonstrating complete campus EHS ownership.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders, managing dependencies. Own site-based EHS decision-making and serve as a recognized Subject Matter Expert (SME) in multiple EHS verticals.
  • Lead the full life-cycle of EHS programs, which may extend beyond your immediate team, manage operational and technical improvements.
