Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager

This role has been designed as ''Onsite'' with an expectation that you will primarily work from an HPE office.

Job Description:

The Global Workplace organization of Hewlett Packard Enterprise Company (HPE) provides all corporate real estate functions at HPE and delivers a workplace experience at each HPE site that will attract, retain, enable and inspire HPE's employees. We provide world-class workplace outcomes across our global portfolio of more than 11 million square feet and 220 sites, with a laser focus on elevating the employee experience and delivering improved productivity across HPE in support of more than 63,000 employees.

Real Estate Operations is part of Workplace Services, a worldwide team of approximately 70 professionals who advance the way HPE employees live and work, supporting and protecting our people and physical assets with personalized on-site solutions and services. Workplace Services is responsible for all aspects of facilities management, including site operations and integrated facilities management, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), and Global Energy and Strategic Supplier Management, and our key stakeholders include HPE Country Managing Directors, HPE site leaders and HPE site employees. Our team works in close collaboration with all functions across HPE and within the Global Workplace organization to achieve our collective experience vision: Strategy & Transformation, Workplace Design & Project Management, and Employee Workplace Experience.

As part of the Global Workplace organization, the EHS Manager is Responsible for the development, facilitation and implementation of EHS programs for the company, with the objectives to proactively reduce risks and ensure compliance with regulations and prevent liabilities; as well as managing HPE's ISO programs (ISO14001 & 45001) for the Chippewa Falls Manufacturing facility. Equally important, the EHS Specialist must possess strong customer relationship skills to be effective in providing a positive workplace experience and supporting our businesses. The successful candidate must have strong skills in managing programs as well as highly effective communications capabilities. This position will be responsible for HPE's sites in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin and Bloomington, MN.

Responsibilities:
  • Tracks, reviews, consults and implements EHS regulations, promulgated by country, state/province and local regulatory authorities, such as OSHA, EPA, etc. for all work activities, including those at customer sites and mobile environments.
  • Communicates with and provides necessary reports to country, state/province and local regulatory authorities, as well as internal partners and customers.
  • Directs and facilitates audits, identifies training needs, and leads efforts in preventative injury management, industrial hygiene, ergonomics and occupational health risks and environmental strategies.
  • Performs financial and risk analysis and research to determine strategies to implement programs such as emergency preparedness, chemical management, ergonomics, and hearing conservation. Work with Sedgwick workers compensation company and Business Resilience to manage workers compensation cases.
  • Accountable for EHS costs, including forecasting and achieving budgets.
  • Performs functions requiring specialized skills in areas such as safety engineering, health risk assessments, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, emerging technologies and environmental regulations.
  • Supports the site's ISO 14001 and 45001 ISO certifications by participating in internal and external audits and maintaining applicable ISO documentation.


Education and Experience:
  • 4+ years of experience within an EHS Field with a focus in environmental, occupationl, or safety
  • ISO14001 & ISO45001 Auditor Certification recommended
  • First level university degree in related science field recommended; advanced degree in related science field strongly preferred.


Knowledge and Skills:
  • Deep knowledge of legislation and the company regulations across multiple states, generally and as applicable to a highly- specialized field.

  • Experience working with and managing an emergency response team. Advanced computer and analytic skills.
  • Excellent project and program management skills; proven ability to coordinate multiple large projects or programs.

  • Superior understanding of environmental, health and safety programs, especially the supervision and execution of such programs at the local/site level.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain productive working relationships with stakeholders, colleagues and strategic partners.
  • Demonstrated experience with conducting EHS compliance audits.
  • Experience with addressing ergonomic risks in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
