Our Nuclear Services, located in
Kincardine, Tiverton, ON, is looking for a
Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator to join our team.
Summary of the RoleReporting to the Environmental Health and Safety Manager, the Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and enforcing the Company Health & Safety policies and programs, ensuring safe working procedures on company work sites and facilities
Key Responsibilities- Implement and oversee site safety program through continuous on-site monitoring during field execution.
- Consult with management and labour to ensure that the highest level of due diligence is maintained.
- Provide counsel and advice to Company management on all health and safety related matters.
- Coordinate and attend on-site health and safety meetings.
- Provide site Health and Safety training, indoctrination, orientation to employees.
- Provide WHMIS training.
- May chair or co-chair Health & Safety Committee.
- Thoroughly investigate lost time accidents/incidents and health and safety related complaints.
- Complete WSIB forms and oversees light duty return to work programs.
- Generate H&S statistics and provides regular reports in a prescribed format, to the Environmental Health and Safety Manager.
- Perform weekly site inspections and monthly safety audits.
- Maintain daily/weekly/monthly work activity logbooks.
- Maintain safety records and documents.
- Maintain record of all safety and site information used to provide statistics, charts, reports etc.
- Ensure compliance with OHSA and all other relevant H&S related legislation and regulations.
- Ensure management remains aware of any potential H&S related issues that may negatively impact the business.
- Work with management and employees to develop and implement appropriate return to work and modified work programs.
- Maintain zero tolerance for on-the-job safety infractions.
- Ensure responsibilities and accountabilities are conducted in a safe manner in accordance with E.S. Fox Limited safety policy/procedures, ISO 18001 standards and OHSA requirements.
- Ensure that environmental aspects within his/her sphere of responsibility are adhered to pursuant to ISO 14001 requirements.
Key Requirements, Experience and Skills- Post secondary education (Degree in Management or Occupational Health & Safety) is recommended.
- CSAO certification by the Province of Ontario.
- CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) designation preferred.
- Certified H&S trainer.
- Current knowledge of OHSA, WSIB, Construction and Industrial Safety Regulations.
- Current CPR and First Aid training certification.
- WHMIS, Fall Protection/Arrest, Lock out, Confined Space, TDG training.
- 5 - 10 years direct environmental health and safety experience.
- Practical experience in construction site Health & Safety.
- Experience in developing and monitoring modified work or light duty programs.
- Demonstrated experience in working with WSIB adjudicators.
- Health & Safety Practices, Policies and Procedures are diligently communicated and adhered to.
- Zero Lost time accidents.
- High percentage of Return to Modified work
- Accessible and available to management and employees with respect to H&S complaints and issues.
- Subject to security background check.
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
