Who are we looking for?

The Peterborough, ON office of GHD is growing our team and is looking to add an Intermediate Environmental Engineer or Scientist to our Contamination, Assessment and Remediation (CAR) team! The CAR team supports brownfield redevelopment projects, completes environmental site assessments, remediation programs, hydrogeological investigations and assessments, provides environmental services to public and private sector clients across Ontario, and develops and manages the long-term operation, maintenance, and monitoring of remedial systems and risk management measures.

  • Preparing project-related technical documents including environmental reports, technical specifications, work plans & cost estimates, and drawings for review.
  • Project management and oversight of environmental investigations and remediation activities will be required and will include site investigations, contractor management, drilling, soil sampling, well installation, groundwater sampling, excavation, contract administration, vapour sampling, etc.
  • Project types will range from environmental site assessment (Phase I and Phase II), environmental monitoring, soil/groundwater management in private, public, and federal sectors including but not limited to infrastructure and property/building developments.
  • Coordination and scheduling of project-related work, including working with other GHD staff, external contractors, and public entities (i.e., obtaining permits).
  • Mentoring and supporting junior staff in field activities, reporting, and technical skill development, while receiving ongoing coaching in leadership and people management skills.


What you will bring to the Team:
  • Relevant Bachelor of Environmental/Civil Engineering, or Environmental Science degree, or equivalent.
  • Ability to obtain a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo) designation is an asset.
  • 4-10 years of experience in the environmental field. We are looking for someone who can manage projects.
  • Fundamental knowledge of, or strong interest in developing skills related to, contaminated site assessment and remediation, hydrogeological investigations, contaminant migration analysis, and environmental due diligence, including Ontario regulatory frameworks such as O. Reg. 153/04 and O. Reg. 406/19.
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail
  • Flexible with project types and responsibilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and be highly communicative.
  • Ability to manage your schedule.
  • Valid G-class driver's licence (a check will be conducted prior to hire).

* The salary range for this position is $67,500 to 95,000K. The posted salary range represents the expected hiring range for GHD locations in its major city centres. Ranges may vary for positions in other locations. At GHD, base salary is determined by your skills, experience, qualifications and work location.
