. The Environmental Engineerprovides environmental expertise and support for our core business units, including sand and gravel mining, limestone quarries, asphalt production & paving, concrete production, and steel mill services.

ResponsibilitiesThe Corporate Environmental Specialist:
- Develops and implements environmental compliance programs (e.g., SPCC, SWPPP)
- Conducts environmental training (e.g., SPCC, Storm Water, Air Compliance, ISO 14001)
- Completes regulatory reporting (e.g., SARA Tier II and TRI reports)
- Apply for environmental permits (e.g., Air Permits, Groundwater Discharge Permits, NPDES Permits)
- Performs Certified Visible Emission readings
- Collects environmental samples (e.g., waste, stormwater), reviews and communicates results
- Supports remediation, construction, and demolition projects
- Assists with the implementation of environmental and safety policies and regulations
- Participates in site EHS audits
- Assists in investigating environmental related incidents, conducts root causes and coordinates the implementation of corrective actions
- Monitors compliance and training records
- Develops and maintains current knowledge of environmental regulations
- Develops and maintains positive relations with internal and external stakeholders to support EHS programs and initiatives
- Assist with special projects and other duties assigned by manager
SkillsThe ideal candidate will have:
- 5 or more years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of EPA and state environmental regulations
- Computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal format individually and in group settings
- Ability to interface with various levels of employees and customers
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to travel by ground or air
- Ability to sit, stand, walk for extended periods of time, climb, tolerate noise and temperature variations, and lift 30 pounds
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle, valid driver's license with a good driving record
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental sciences, or similar discipline
