Who are we looking for?

The Vancouver, BC office of GHD is growing our team and is looking to add an Environmental Engineer or Scientist to our Contaminated Assessments & Remediation team! We work in several different industries including municipal, infrastructure, waste and landfills, water and wastewater, oil and gas upstream and downstream, pulp and paper mills, pipelines, railway, emergency spill response and energy & resources.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
  • Working with Project Manager and senior staff in all aspects of project work including scope development, scheduling, budgeting, analysis and reporting
  • Interact with internal and external clients, contractors and service providers
  • Data compilation, reduction and interpretation
  • Preparation of technical environmental reports for senior review for annual monitoring and sampling programs, environmental investigation (Stage 1 and 2 Preliminary Site Investigations (PSIs), Detailed Site Investigation (DSIs) and Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs)), hydrogeological assessments, remedial works
  • Assisting with development, coordinating and implementing environmental investigations for Stage 1 and 2 PSIs, DSIs and Phase I and II ESAs
  • Working with senior staff in developing viable remedial options for contaminated sites and implementing the remedial work plans and hazardous material assessments
  • Assisting with preparing proposals
  • Oversight and implementation of field investigations; monitoring and sampling programs, drilling, remediation, hydrogeological assessments for various media including soil, groundwater, surface water, soil vapour and air
  • Some travel to sites throughout BC and Alberta
  • Participate in a proactive safety culture of continuous improvement.
  • Maintain safety training to conduct environmental contaminated sites work

What you will bring to the team:
  • Relevant Bachelor's Degree in environmental engineering or earth sciences
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental consulting
  • Engineer or Geoscientist in training (EIT or GIT) designation within BC
  • Strong understanding and experience of the BC Contaminated Sites Regulation and associated guidance, protocols, etc. is required. Previous work under Canadian Energy Regulator managed sites is an asset.
  • Excellent English writing and verbal communication is required to effectively express technical information to multiple audiences including subcontractors, field staff, clients, colleagues, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting field work
  • Experience managing multiple tasks while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail in a consulting environment is preferred
  • Must be flexible with project types and responsibilities
  • Proven project and client management skills are an asset
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Valid driver's license (a motor vehicle record check will be performed prior to hire)

The salary range for this position is $77,550 to $129,250. The posted salary range represents the expected hiring range for GHD locations in its major city centres. Ranges may vary for positions in other locations. At GHD, base salary is determined by your skills, experience, qualifications and work location.
