Job DescriptionEnvironmental Engineer/Geoscientist and Qualified PersonMarkham, ONJoin EXP's Geo-Environmental team in Markham, Ontario. The ideal candidate will be a motivated, detail-oriented, self-starter with 8 to 10 years of experience in environmental site assessments, excess soil management and environmental consulting services. Reporting to the Discipline Manager of Geo-Environmental, this person will be responsible for a broad range of tasks.
Your work environment at EXP- Plan, conduct and oversee Phase One and Two Environmental Site Assessments (ESA), remediation and associated Record of Site Condition (RSC) work in accordance with applicable CSA Standards as well as Ontario Regulation 153/04;
- Plan, conduct and oversee Qualified Person (QPESA) services in accordance with Ontario Regulation 406/19, including Assessment of Past Use Reports, Soil Characterization Reports, Excess Soil Destination Assessment Reports, Fill Management Plans, etc.;
- Conduct incoming fill review and approval for earthwork projects in accordance with Ontario Regulation 406/19 and Fill Management Plans;
- Review preliminary site information or Request for Proposals, and develop appropriate scope of works for ESA and excess soil management projects;
- Conduct peer reviews of environmental reports;
- Develop practical project-specific solutions and recommendations based on clear understanding of client and project requirements;
- Prepare proposal, budget tracking and cost control;
- Report preparation;
- Provide technical review for environmental reports prepared by other staff; and,
- Maintain excellent working relationships with clients.
What your experience looks like- 8 to 10 years of experience in environmental consulting specialized in environmental site assessment and excess soils related projects;
- P.Eng. or P.Geo. license in Ontario (or equivalent designation);
- QPESA designation;
- University degree in a related field of study such as Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Science, Hydrogeology or Geology;
- Extensive working knowledge with Ontario Regulation 153/04 and Record of Site Conditions;
- Extensive working knowledge with Ontario Regulation 406/16 and associated Soil Rules;
- Familiar with construction and earthworks in general from an environmental standpoint;
- Working knowledge of remediation systems and techniques as well as Risk Assessments;
- Experience in geotechnical and hydrogeological engineering an asset;
- Excellent oral communication and presentation skills as well as ability to clearly convey project information to client or stakeholders;
- Strong technical writing abilities;
- Expertise in budget management, report preparation and client relationship management; and,
- Strong organizational and time management skills.

The salary range for this role is between $90k-$120k. The actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
