Job Description

As an Environmental Compliance Manager (Project Manager), you will lead environmental compliance efforts for industrial and commercial clients while supporting brownfield redevelopment across the Ohio Valley.

This role combines technical expertise, project leadership, and client partnership. You will help organizations stay compliant, reduce risk, and operate responsibly-while contributing to projects that revitalize communities and protect the environment.

Core Responsibilities
  • Lead environmental compliance programs across air, water, waste, and chemical regulations (CAA, CWA/NPDES, RCRA, EPCRA, TSCA), ensuring client operations meet all applicable requirements.
  • Manage permits, reporting, and compliance documentation-maintaining accurate records and ensuring all regulatory deadlines are met.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, regulators, and project partners-providing clear guidance on compliance strategy and requirements.
  • Conduct compliance audits, identify gaps, and implement corrective actions to reduce risk and maintain audit-ready operations.
  • Lead SPCC and SWPPP program implementation, inspections, and corrective actions to support safe and compliant site operations.
  • Support project delivery by managing scope, schedule, budget, and team coordination, including assigning work and tracking progress.
  • Contribute to business growth through client relationship management, proposal development, and identifying new opportunities.
  • Support environmental site assessments and brownfield projects while tracking regulatory changes and translating them into actionable updates.

You'll thrive here if you have
  • 5-10+ years of environmental compliance experience in industrial, manufacturing, or energy/chemical environments, with direct responsibility for permits, reporting, and audits.
  • Strong working knowledge of EPA and state regulations (CAA, CWA/NPDES, RCRA, EPCRA/Tier II/TRI, TSCA) and ability to interpret and apply requirements in real-world settings.
  • Proven experience managing compliance programs, closing audit findings, and implementing corrective actions across teams.
  • Hands-on experience with permitting and reporting programs (e.g., air permits/Title V, SWPPP, SPCC, NPDES, hazardous waste, Tier II/TRI).
  • Experience conducting or managing Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments and supporting site history research.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, track deadlines, and deliver high-quality work on time and on budget.
  • Clear and practical communication skills, with the ability to translate complex regulatory requirements for clients, operators, and stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented and accountable, with strong organizational, analytical (Excel/data), and problem-solving skills; certifications (e.g., PE, CHMM, QEP, CPESC) are a plus.
