How will this role impact First Command?

Reporting to the Director, Enterprise Risk Management, the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Analytics Lead is responsible for leading risk analytics, monitoring, reporting, and data-driven risk insights across the enterprise. This role serves as the central analytics resource for the ERM function, supporting strategic, operational, financial, compliance, technology, cybersecurity, third-party, model, and bank risks.

The ERM Analytics Lead partners closely with Risk Management, Internal Audit, Compliance, Information Security, Finance, Operations, and business leaders to develop risk intelligence capabilities that strengthen decision-making and enhance the organization's ability to identify, assess, monitor, and respond to risks. The role is responsible for developing enterprise risk reporting, maintaining risk data and metrics, identifying emerging trends, supporting risk assessments, and providing actionable insights to executive management, management committees, and the Board of Directors.

What will the employee do in this role?

Enterprise Risk Analytics & Reporting
  • Lead the design, development, and continuous enhancement of enterprise risk analytics, dashboards, scorecards, and executive reporting.
  • Develop and maintain Board, Risk Committee, Executive Leadership Team, and management-level risk reporting packages.
  • Collect, aggregate, validate, and analyze enterprise risk data from multiple business units and risk disciplines.
  • Assist the ERM leadership with developing meaningful risk metrics, Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and trend analyses that support proactive risk management.
  • Design and implement automated reporting solutions that improve efficiency, data quality, and reporting consistency.
  • Translate complex risk data into actionable insights and executive-level communications.

Monitoring & Emerging Risk Identification
  • Monitor enterprise risk exposures and identify emerging risks, concentrations, trends, and correlations across business activities.
  • Conduct scenario, sensitivity, and trend analyses to assess potential impacts on strategic objectives and risk appetite.
  • Evaluate internal and external data sources to identify changing risk conditions, industry developments, regulatory changes, and market trends.
  • Develop methodologies to measure risk movement and provide early warning indicators for management attention.
  • Perform deep-dive analyses of significant risk events, losses, control issues, and external events to identify systemic themes and risks.

Risk Framework & Program Support
  • Support the ongoing maturity and execution of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework.
  • Maintain and enhance enterprise risk inventories, risk taxonomies, risk appetite metrics, and risk registers.
  • Support Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSA), risk assessments, risk appetite monitoring, and issue management activities.
  • Assist risk owners in developing metrics and monitoring plans for key risks.
  • Support annual and periodic risk assessments across strategic, operational, technology, compliance, vendor, cybersecurity, business resiliency, and financial risks.
  • Contribute to regulatory examinations, internal audits, and Board reporting requests.

Data Management & Business Intelligence
  • Serve as the ERM department's subject matter expert for risk data governance, analytics, and reporting.
  • Develop and maintain data models, reporting databases, and risk analytics tools.
  • Partner with Information Technology, Data Management, Compliance, and business stakeholders to improve risk data quality and accessibility.
  • Identify opportunities to automate data collection, reconciliation, monitoring, and reporting processes.
  • Establish data standards and controls to ensure accuracy, consistency, completeness, and reliability of risk information.

Strategic Partnership & Leadership
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to ERM leadership by providing risk insights that support strategic decision-making.
  • Facilitate discussions with business leaders regarding risk trends, key exposures, and risk indicators.
  • Mentor risk analysts and assist in developing analytical capabilities across the ERM function.
  • Support special projects, risk initiatives, and enterprise governance activities as assigned.
  • Promote a strong risk culture through data-driven decision support and enterprise-wide transparency of risk information.


What skills & qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in risk management, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Analytics, Business Administration, Accounting, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Master's degree preferred.

Work Experience
  • 7+ years of experience in Enterprise Risk Management, Operational Risk, Risk Analytics, Business Intelligence, Internal Audit, Financial Services Analytics, or related disciplines.
  • Experience within a bank, broker-dealer, wealth management firm, insurance company, or diversified financial services organization preferred.
  • Experience supporting Board and Executive Risk Committee reporting strongly preferred.
  • Experience with enterprise risk frameworks, risk assessments, RCSA programs, risk appetite frameworks, and KRI development preferred.

Certifications
  • One or more of the following certifications are preferred: FINRA Investment license(s); Insurance license(s); Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Risk Manager (CRM), Professional Risk Manager (PRM); Financial Risk Manager (FRM); Certified Risk Management Assurance (CRMA); or other relevant certification.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Advanced proficiency in Power BI, Tableau, or comparable business intelligence tools.
  • Advanced data analysis skills using SQL, Python, R, SAS, or similar analytical platforms.
  • Strong experience with data visualization, dashboard development, and automated reporting.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Experience working with large, complex datasets and multiple source systems.
  • Familiarity with COSO ERM, ISO 31000, OCC, FFIEC, Federal Reserve, SEC, FINRA, and other applicable regulatory guidance.
