Full Job Description
Job Purpose:

At Sony Music Publishing, we recognize that constant evolution is the new standard for success. To remain leaders and effective advocates for our songwriters, we are executing a focused, multi-year program to fundamentally reshape our core technology and business processes. This initiative will prepare our systems for the rapid adoption of emerging technologies like AI and equip our operations to handle increasing variety and complexity in the music business.

We are seeking a visionary Enterprise Product Lead to be at the heart of this evolution. As a key leader within our Transformation Office, you will be the shaper of our future-state capabilities. You will lead a team of Product Managers to translate enterprise strategy into a portfolio of adopted, scalable, and value-driven products, spearheading the evolution of our best-in-class suite of royalty accounting products that serve our global customers and internal teams.

This is a role for a pragmatic product leader who measures success by tangible outcomes-product adoption, capability reuse, and measurable business value. You will champion both delivery discipline and team empowerment, building the engine that drives our transformation forward.

What You'll Do: (job responsibilities)

Product Strategy & Vision
  • Define and Lead Product Strategy: Collaborate with the Transformation Office Lead to define the enterprise product strategy, and then lead its execution through planning, roadmap development, and lifecycle management.
  • Translate Strategy to Roadmap: Convert enterprise goals into a cohesive, outcome-driven product roadmap, ensuring a clear line from vision to execution.
  • Champion Discovery & Validation: Drive a discovery-led process to identify the highest-value business problems, validating solutions and assumptions directly with business partners.
  • Author and Champion Business Cases: Develop, maintain, and champion rigorous business cases for all major initiatives, defining clear value propositions, ROI, and success metrics to drive investment and prioritization decisions.
  • Inform Strategy: Monitor business, market, and technology trends (including AI) to inform product strategy and proactively propose new solutions.

Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead and Develop a High-Performing Team: Lead, coach, and mentor a team of Product Managers, fostering a culture of excellence, autonomy, and accountability.
  • Establish Product Excellence: Develop and govern a strong product development lifecycle, creating consistent standards, prioritization frameworks, and clear decision-making rights.
  • Bridge Strategy and Execution: Lead the Product team in translating desired business outcomes into actionable product requirements and measurable KPIs.
  • Empower Your Team: Actively mentor your team to master the balance between strategic thinking and pragmatic execution, providing clear guardrails for value, quality, and alignment.

Execution & Value Realization
  • Align Stakeholders: Partner with senior leaders across the business to align on priorities, manage competing needs, and ensure a shared understanding of the product vision.
  • Act as the primary bridge between business strategy and technical execution, collaborating with Architecture and Engineering to ensure the product roadmap is both ambitious in its vision and pragmatic in its delivery.
  • Deliver Visible Value: Build trust across the organization by delivering value incrementally and transparently, ensuring momentum is maintained.
  • Measure What Matters: Define, track, and report on KPIs that measure business outcomes, product adoption, and value realization-not just project output.
  • Act as a Hands-On Leader: Step in to unblock teams, refine requirements, and resolve delivery risks when necessary.

How Success Will Be Measured
  • Credible Roadmap Execution: A clear product roadmap is established and executed, directly translating enterprise strategy into delivered capabilities.
  • Measurable Business Outcomes: The clear delivery of measurable value (e.g., efficiency gains, cost savings, risk reduction) that validates the original business case and proves the impact of our transformation initiatives.
  • Adoption & Reuse: Increased adoption and reuse of enterprise capabilities across the business. Capabilities are embraced, not abandoned.
  • Operational Excellence: Your product teams operate with consistent standards, decision clarity, and financial discipline, becoming a center of excellence within SMP.

Who You Are: (skills and experience required)
  • An Experienced Product Leader: You have 10+ years in product management, with a proven track record of building, mentoring, and leading high-performing product teams in complex, matrixed organizations.
  • A Strategic Thinker: You excel at translating high-level business strategy into concrete product roadmaps. You have experience incubating new ideas and researching market and customer needs.
  • Financially Disciplined: You possess strong financial acumen, with demonstrated experience building and defending rigorous business cases to make difficult, value-based trade-offs and secure investment.
  • A Transformation Expert: You have proven success delivering transformative change in risk-aware, operational environments where user adoption is critical to success.
  • A Pragmatic Executor: You have a hands-on leadership style and are comfortable in the details, but you empower your team and do not micromanage. You are curious and thrive in the face of uncertainty.
  • An Influential Partner: You have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to surface, prioritize, and balance competing stakeholder priorities to drive alignment.
  • Data-Driven: You have excellent problem-solving skills and leverage data to inform decisions, using principles of design thinking and customer experience to guide your approach.
  • Technically Fluent: You have a strong understanding of modern product development and are familiar with the developing use of AI services in the product design lifecycle.
  • Industry Experience (Preferred): You have a background in the Music/Media Industry and/or Financial Services.
  • Periodic travel required
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • 7.5-hour business workday but variations in work volume frequently require extended working hours for evening and late-night events

What We Give You:
  • You join an inclusive, collaborative and global community where you have the opportunity to fuel the creative journey
  • A modern office environment designed to foster productivity, creativity, and teamwork
  • An attractive and comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life & disability coverage, and 401K + employer matching
  • Voluntary benefits like company-paid identity theft protection and resources for pets, mental health and meditation resources, industry-leading fertility coverage, fully paid leave for childbirth or bonding, fully paid leave for caregivers, programs for loved ones with developmental disabilities and neurodiversity, subsidized back-up child and elder care, and reimbursement for adoption, surrogacy, tuition and student loans
  • We invest in your professional growth & development
  • Flexible Time Off
  • Time off for a winter recess
