About the RoleJohnny's Selected Seeds is seeking an experienced Enterprise Data Architect to define and lead our enterprise data strategy. This role is responsible for ensuring that data across the organization is structured, integrated, governed, and leveraged to support operational excellence, customer experience, and data-driven decision-making. This is a highly visible, strategic role that partners across the organization to align data architecture with business priorities while establishing scalable, future-ready capabilities.
What You'll DoEnterprise Data Strategy & Architecture- Define and lead the enterprise data architecture vision and multi-year roadmap
- Establish target-state architecture across data platforms, integration, governance, and analytics
- Ensure alignment between data strategy and business priorities
Data Modeling & Domain Ownership- Develop and maintain enterprise data models (conceptual, logical, physical)
- Define and standardize core business data domains (customer, product, inventory, pricing, finance)
- Establish consistent data definitions, relationships, and lineage
Data Governance & Master Data Management- Lead the development of a formal data governance framework
- Define policies for data quality, ownership, classification, and lifecycle management
- Establish master data standards, including golden records and data harmonization
Integration & Data Flow- Define data definitions and data requirements for scalable integration patterns (API, ETL/ELT, event-driven architecture)
- Ensure reliable and efficient data movement across systems
- Partner with application teams to define data integration standards
Analytics & Reporting Enablement- Support enterprise BI, reporting, and analytics capabilities
- Ensure consistency and trust in KPIs, metrics, and data models
- Partner with analytics teams to enable scalable data pipelines
Security, Compliance & Governance- Align data architecture with security, privacy, and regulatory requirements
- Define standards for access control, auditing, and sensitive data handling
- Support data retention and traceability requirements
Architecture Governance & Business Partnership- Participate in architecture reviews and technology decisions
- Evaluate internal and vendor solutions for alignment with standards
- Partner with leaders across Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, Customer Care, and Digital
- Translate business needs into scalable data solutions
What Success Looks Like (First 6-12 Months)- Established a clear enterprise data architecture roadmap
- Defined and aligned core data domains across key systems
- Identified key metrics for measuring improvements to data quality, consistency, and accessibility across the organization
- Begun work on foundational data governance practices
What You BringExperience- 8-12+ years in data architecture, data engineering, or a related field
- Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise-level data solutions
- Experience working across multiple business domains (e.g., Sales, Operations, Finance, Supply Chain)
Technical Expertise- Enterprise data architecture and modeling
- Data governance and metadata management
- Master data management (MDM)
- Integration architecture (API, ETL/ELT, event-driven systems)
- Data warehousing, lakehouse, and analytics platforms
