This position requires in-person collaboration up to five days a week. This arrangement is subject to change based on business requirements.

Overview of role:

The Enterprise Architect is responsible for defining enterprise business and technology architecture roadmaps that support WestJet's strategic priorities. The role partners with leaders across business, operations, data, cybersecurity, and technology to align investments, platforms, and solutions with enterprise objectives.

Working with business and technology leaders, the Enterprise Architect develops roadmaps, capability models, standards, principles, and technology strategies that modernize core capabilities, improve operational effectiveness, reduce complexity, and support long-term business outcomes.

The role takes an enterprise-wide view, aligning business capability needs, platform strategy, data, integration, security, and technology investment decisions to improve business performance, resilience, scalability, and delivery effectiveness.

Key deliverables / responsibilities include:
  • Develop multi-year roadmaps that align business strategy, enterprise capabilities, technology priorities, and investment decisions.
  • Partner with business and technology leaders to define target-state architecture across enterprise platforms, capabilities, and value streams.
  • Establish capability models, value streams, architecture principles, standards, patterns, and reference architectures.
  • Translate business needs into scalable business, data, application, integration, security, and technology capabilities.
  • Guide portfolio planning, solution direction, investment decisions, and architecture governance.
  • Define enterprise architecture strategies that improve operational effectiveness, employee experience, scalability, resilience, and long-term maintainability.
  • Define integration patterns that connect enterprise platforms, business capabilities, data products, and shared services.
  • Promote reusable APIs, events, shared services, common platforms, and enterprise data capabilities.
  • Lead architecture governance and resolve significant design decisions, risks, dependencies, and trade-offs.
  • Assess platform health, technical debt, lifecycle risks, and modernization opportunities.
  • Provide architecture leadership for major transformation initiatives across the enterprise portfolio.
  • Build alignment across business, operations, data, cybersecurity, product, delivery, and technology teams.
  • Mentor architects and technology teams, promoting architecture excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Communicate architecture strategy and recommendations clearly to business, technology, and executive leaders.
  • Represent WestJet with industry partners, vendors, and architecture communities

Experience and qualifications:
  • Education: Postgraduate Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred, with 10+ years of experience.
