Full Job Description

BCI's Technology team is scaling how enterprise architecture shows up across the organization, and we're looking for an Enterprise Architect to help lead that expansion. Based in Victoria, with Vancouver considered for the right candidate, you'll work hands on with Technology Solution Managers and business partners across BCI, shaping the patterns and roadmaps behind our modernization. This is a collaborative role, not a top down one: you'll adapt your approach and level of detail to whoever is in the room, moving comfortably between technical deep dives and plain language business conversations. If you can translate complexity into something a room full of different audiences can act on, and you'd rather build consensus than dictate it, we'd like to hear from you.

Posting close date: August 20, 2026

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

The Technology department is BCI's innovation catalyst and digital transformation engine, pioneering the future of institutional investment through cutting-edge technology solutions. We architect next-generation platforms powered by AI and cloud-native technologies that drive investment excellence and operational efficiency.

As a strategic partner across all areas of BCI's business, we don't just implement technology—we envision breakthrough digital experiences of the future. Our department leads digital transformation initiatives, creates intelligent automation solutions, and builds secure, scalable infrastructure that supports everything from identifying investment opportunities and decision-making, portfolio management to risk analysis, trade processing, and regulatory reporting.
We cultivate digitally empowered workplaces through advanced collaboration ecosystems and productivity platforms, enabling our Technology and business teams to thrive in tomorrow's investment landscape.

THE OPPORTUNITY

BCI's Technology team is modernizing the platform that supports one of Canada's largest institutional investors. As an Enterprise Architect, you'll shape the architectures behind that transformation — setting standards, patterns, and roadmaps across application, data, integration, cloud, security, and AI — while staying close enough to implementation to keep your recommendations grounded and credible.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Develop and optimize enterprise architectures that enable BCI's modernization and transformation

  • Define and evolve architecture standards, principles, guidelines, and patterns aligned to industry frameworks and best practices

  • Build business capability and technology roadmaps in partnership with business and technology teams, and help drive them to delivery

  • Review architectures-in-development and provide constructive, practical feedback to delivery teams

  • Evaluate emerging AI — including generative and agentic systems — and establish governance guardrails for responsible adoption across BCI

  • Identify and prove out innovation opportunities through rapid prototyping and proof-of-concept work

  • Build and evolve the tools and systems that power the EA practice itself — repositories, models, and automation that make architecture decisions faster and more consistent

  • Bring risk, compliance, and security considerations into architecture decisions, and support the governance that keeps BCI's technology direction coherent and well-controlled

WHAT YOU BRING
  • 5+ years as an Enterprise Architect or in a related architecture role, supported by a background in software development, application architecture, and solution architecture

  • Demonstrated ability to bridge hands-on technology implementation with enterprise strategy, translating business objectives into technology outcomes

  • Strong architectural pattern recognition — identifying recurring challenges and reusable solutions across business and technology domains

  • Hands-on experience with AI assistants and agentic tools in a technical or architecture context, with a working understanding of AI-related risks, controls, and architectural requirements

  • Proven experience driving cloud modernization initiatives, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Experience with rapid prototyping, Agile approaches, and DevOps practices

  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills — able to synthesize complexity, present clearly to technical and non-technical audiences, resolve conflict, and build consensus

  • Depth in one or more architecture domains: data, application/solution, cloud, security, or integration

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM field, or equivalent experience

  • Professional certification(s) in cloud or architecture an asset

WHERE YOU WILL WORK

There is a strong preference for the role to be based in our Victoria, BC office, however, we will consider applicants who would prefer to be located in our downtown Vancouver location. Relocation support within Canada is available if needed. We are an in-person, collaborative organization with the flexibility to work remotely one day per week.

SALARY RANGE

The annualized salary range for this role is CAD $106,000 to $128,000

BCI offers a competitive total rewards package, including a performance-based incentive plan, comprehensive health & dental benefits, a defined benefit pension plan, and paid time off. We pay our people competitively in the markets in which we operate and with consideration for internal equity and job structure. The base salary will consider factors such as the individual's skill set, experience, and internal equity. We aim for actual pay to be around the market median for expected performance and the upper quartile for excellent performance. Actual salaries may vary based on experience and expertise.

Next Steps:

To apply online, please submit your resume promptly. Applications will be actively reviewed, and those selected for an interview will be contacted.
