Overview of RoleAs an Enterprise Architect, you are a strategic modernization leader with technical credibility. You bridge the gap between high-level Google Cloud (GCP) value engineering and the hands-on delivery of modernized legacy estates. Utilizing the 66degrees "Paradigm" accelerator, you will lead clients through the reduction of risk and cost for mainframe rewrites, translating decades of complex business logic-often buried in COBOL or ERP code-into scalable, cloud-native architectures, ready for AI. This is a career defining moment in the industry and this role puts you in the center.
Responsibilities- Strategic Solutioning: Partner with client executive stakeholders to scope and plan large-scale legacy modernization initiatives.
- Legacy Archaeology Assessment: Lead the technical decomposition of complex, multi-phase transaction systems to ensure functional parity between legacy source code and extracted business logic and data processes.
- Planning: Lead the process of analyzing extractable processes and dependencies to build incremental value realization plans for clients to achieve early cash flow from their modernization investments. Work side by side with the client CFO team to build the business case and cash flow forecast for different plan options.
- Governance: Collaborate with client Security, Networking and Data leadership teams to ensure the project establishes secure, reliable and scalable approaches for IAM, Networking, Security (HIPAA/NIST), and Database across multi-cloud and hybrid environments.
- Architectural Guardrails: Ensure system designs prevent technical debt while accelerating development velocity through AI-driven agentic workflows.
- Change Leadership: Collaborate with client CXO team to be the champion of their technical workforce transformation from legacy to modern systems and oversee the results of training their teams on AI coding agent usage.
- Release Leadership: Ensure all production releases are thoroughly tested through table top cutover exercises and minimize risk through periods of "dualrun" with data driven validations. You will own the recommendation to the client CXO team for when each release should go live.
Qualifications- 12+ years of experience designing and operating large-scale, distributed systems, with a proven track record of managing large enterprise digital transformation programs.
- Deep proficiency in Cloud services (GCP or AWS), specifically Kubernetes, Networking, Security, Big Data, Spanner (Aurora), and AI platforms. Previous experience as a GCP/AWS Customer who went through a large scale transformation is highly valued.
- Grew your career from hands-on experience with legacy systems to modernization (i.e COBOL, JCL, DB2, or monolithic systems to Java, Go or .Net environments).
- Practical experience and awareness of strengths and limitations of RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) architectures and tuning agentic workflows for enterprise-grade applications.
- The ability to navigate between deep-dive technical debugging with engineers and high-level strategy sessions with C-suite stakeholders.
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related or equivalent work experience required.
