Job Description

The Systems Manager leads a team responsible for maintaining and implementing enterprise business applications that deliver strong business value. This role oversees application roadmaps, upgrades, vendor lifecycles, security and compliance requirements, and software maintenance. The Systems Manager drives modern development practices to support fast changing business needs, manages vendors and service providers, and collaborates closely with IT teams, business partners, project sponsors, and stakeholders to deliver successful technology initiatives.

Partnering closely with Electric and Gas business units, the Systems Manager enables IT solutions that align with enterprise principles and business priorities. This role requires strong leadership across complex, cross functional projects, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build trust through transparency and inclusion. Success depends on a blend of technical expertise, business acumen, disciplined delivery methods, and a commitment to operational excellence, safety, integrity, and continuous improvement.

This position does not provide employment pursuant to the terms of a STEM OPT Training Plan.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of IT projects, including resources, scope, budget, schedule, and overall delivery plans.
  • Align IT initiatives and project roadmaps with business area strategies and priorities
  • Partner across IT operations, infrastructure, network planning, cybersecurity, enterprise architecture, analytics, and data management teams
  • Build and lead a high performing, inclusive IT team and drive staff development through targeted training, coaching, and ongoing skill evaluations
  • Lead new system development, vendor integrations, implementations, and ongoing application and technical support
  • Apply enterprise architecture frameworks, middleware technologies, cloud platforms, and modern development methodologies to large scale initiatives
  • Oversee the full project lifecycle, including business analysis, legacy data conversion, and delivery using SDLC, Agile, or approved methodologies
  • Manage change by addressing evolving business needs, scope adjustments, and shifting priorities
  • Develop application, technology, and infrastructure roadmaps for vendor and internally developed solutions
  • Establish strong relationships with vendors, sponsors, and stakeholders while providing direction to resolve cross functional issues


Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Master's Degree and a minimum 6 years of relevant full-time work experience or
  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum 8 years of relevant full-time work experience
Preferred Education/Experience
  • Master's Degree in IT, computer science, business administration, engineering or decision sciences including mathematics, analytics, quantitative methods and a minimum 6 years of relevant full-time work experience in supporting Work Management Systems (WMS) such as ARM, MAXIMIO, etc.
  • Bachelor's Degree in IT, computer science, business administration, engineering or decision sciences including mathematics, analytics, quantitative methods and a minimum 8 years of relevant full-time work experience in supporting Work Management Systems (WMS) such as ARM, MAXIMIO, etc.
Relevant Work Experience
  • Minimum 6 years' experience designing, developing, implementing and operating technologies in one or more IT domains, e.g. applications, data, solution, infrastructure, process change management, preferred
  • Minimum 3 years leadership or managerial experience, required
  • Interact with senior leadership, external stakeholders and communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience, required
  • Ability to promote operational excellence, Zero Accident Culture, and Human Performance Improvements through system design and process improvements, required

  • Experience directing vendors, system integrators, and service providers, including contract, SLA, and performance management, preferred

  • Experience managing risks, issues, dependencies, and release planning for Work Management programs and projects, preferred
  • Ability to support field mobility solutions that enable safe, efficient execution and completion of work orders, preferred
