Job Description Summary This role involves the management, configuration, and administration of enterprise applications at Wake Forest University. While the primary focus is on the Workday ERP and Student Information System (SIS), the administrator will also support other key platforms, including but not limited to Accruent EMS and Snaplogic, ensuring effective system troubleshooting and operational stability. Deep knowledge of the Workday ecosystem, combined with excellent logical reasoning and problem-solving skills, is critically important in assisting end-users, collaborating with developers, and achieving the team's goals. Essential Functions: • Workday Security Administration: Serves as the primary subject matter expert for Workday Security. Designs, configures, and maintains security groups, role-based permissions, and user access controls across the Workday tenants. • Business Process Configuration: Collaborates closely with functional areas (e.g., Registrar, Admissions, Student Financials) to evaluate, design, test, and implement Business Process (BP) changes, with a heavy focus on Workday Student. • Integration Support & Triage: Acts as the primary liaison between functional business users and integration developers. Triages and troubleshoots Workday integration issues, monitors scheduled integration runs, and manages tenant environments (e.g., Sandbox). • System Administration & Updates: Manages the administration, maintenance, operational support, and configuration of Workday and other supported enterprise applications (such as Accruent EMS and Snaplogic). Evaluates Workday feature releases and updates, assessing their impact on existing university business processes. • Tier-2/3 Troubleshooting: Identifies and resolves root causes of complex system issues, handling escalated support tickets (such as 3rd party access, account provisioning, and system errors). • Process Improvement via AI: Actively leverages Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and emerging technologies to enhance personal and team productivity. Uses AI for troubleshooting, documentation, drafting communications, and identifying opportunities to automate routine administrative tasks. • Mentorship & Collaboration: Works with business partners, senior management, and internal/external customers to plan new system enhancements. Determines methods and procedures for application administration and provides mentoring to team members. • Accountability & Availability: Accountable for maintaining the security and confidentiality of any proprietary or sensitive information or data in any medium regarding the University or its students, faculty, or staff. Accessing or disclosing such information or data must be deemed necessary for the performance of one's job responsibilities and must be authorized by the employee's supervisor. Availability to work after hours and/or weekends and on-call, as specified by the supervisor. Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field is strongly preferred. • Candidates holding a bachelor's degree in STEM fields are also encouraged to apply. • Six to twelve years of relevant professional experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. • Extensive hands-on experience with Workday administration, specifically Workday Student and/or Workday HCM. • Deep understanding of Workday Security architecture and the Business Process (BP) framework. • Strong proficiency in leveraging Generative AI tools (e.g., Gemini) to accelerate technical research, streamline workflows, and boost daily productivity. • Proven ability to triage and troubleshoot enterprise system integrations (familiarity with Workday EIBs, Core Connectors, and/or Workday Studio is highly preferred). • Ability to act as an effective translator and liaison between non-technical functional users and highly technical developers. • Ability to work autonomously; receives no instruction on routine work and general instructions on new assignments. • Effective time management, prioritization, and decision-making skills when managing multiple competing projects and timelines. • Knowledge of superior customer service standards and practices. Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: • Workday Pro Certification(s) in Security, Student, or Integrations. • Familiarity with higher education administrative business processes and student lifecycles. • Understanding of web application protocols and API troubleshooting (REST/SOAP). • Familiarity with ticketing and agile tools such as Jira or Freshservice.
