Northrop Grumman is in need of an Energetics Manufacturing Engineer 6 level 2 to work at its Elkton, Maryland facility.
Northrop Grumman Propulsion Systems and Controls (PS&C) facility in Elkton, Maryland began solid-propellant rocket operations in 1948. Today, the Elkton PS&C facility designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion and ordnance systems in programs professionally managed for a wide variety of Government and commercial customers. The facility also serves as the hub for offsite engineering and test facilities in Ronkonkoma, NY and Palm Beach Gardens, FL.
Elkton, Maryland is located on the Upper Chesapeake Bay, midway between Philadelphia and Baltimore. Job Duties:
bull; Provide manufacturing support to operations to meet quality, delivery, and cost requirements.
bull; Create, maintain and improve Process Control Documentation.
bull; Establish manufacturing lines for new products and product upgrades
bull; Establish Lean process flow
bull; Capacity planning 6 perform capacity studies/analysis
bull; Digital modeling/simulation when appropriate
bull; Define facility and equipment needs
bull; Work with facilities engineering to provide cost benefit analysis to support capital projects
bull; Establish equipment specifications
bull; Work with vendors for equipment run-off and installation
bull; Assist in establishing safety requirements for new facilities and equipment
bull; Establish Total Preventive Maintenance (TPM) requirements
bull; Provide start-up support and initial training to operations
bull; Establish required procedures
bull; Provide training to maintenance personnel as required
bull; Conduct continuous improvement activities
bull; Lean manufacturing implementation (PES)
bull; Assist operations with 5-S programs
bull; Conduct Process FMEA9s
bull; Generate process maps, flow charts, value stream maps
bull; Establish standard work
bull; Conduct time studies/audits
bull; Monitor production touch labor costs and suggest/implement improvements to drive costs down
bull; Establish Key Characteristics for manufacturing/processing and ensure systems are in place to monitor/control them
Operational support:
bull; Analyze processes and equipment for process capabilities and causes of downtime. Analyze yield and scrap rate data provided by Mission Assurance to improve processes.
bull; Provide technical support for improvements
bull; Determine root cause and corrective actions for deficiencies
bull; Conduct process capabilities studies as required
bull; Continually monitor processes
bull; Generate and maintain Statistical Process Control (SPC) program for production programs
bull; Monitor actual production vs. plan
bull; Work with Safety to establish and adhere to safety requirements and support Hazard Analysis
bull; Work with product/tooling engineering to establish tooling requirements
bull; Assist in design of initial tooling and test equipment and with continuous tooling improvement.
bull; Additive manufacturing design, development, and implementation where practical
bull; Assist operations and maintenance in troubleshooting and equipment repairs
bull; Assist in defining product count points for financial tracking
Level of hire dependent upon demonstrated skills, experience, education, and competency.
Basic Qualifications for level 2:
bull; Must have at a Bachelors degree in STEM studies and 2 or more years of experience or a Masters degree with 0 or more years of experience.
bull; Must be a US citizen and able to obtain a Secret Clearance.
Primary Level Salary Range: $87,600.00 - $131,400.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
