Qualifications

• Valid New York State certification in English Language Arts (Grades 7-12).
• Strong knowledge of New York State Learning Standards for secondary literacy.
• Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive teaching.
• Experience teaching at middle or high school levels (preferred).
• Experience supporting students with diverse learning needs (preferred).
• Familiarity with evidence-based literacy practices (preferred).
• Experience using instructional technology and digital learning tools (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned English Language Arts instruction.
• Create an inclusive classroom environment where students feel valued and supported.
• Teach a comprehensive curriculum including literature, writing, and research skills using varied instructional methods.
• Differentiate instruction to cater to diverse learner needs, including English Language Learners and students with disabilities.
• Monitor student growth through assessment data and adjust instruction as needed.
• Provide timely, meaningful feedback to foster student learning and development.
• Collaborate with colleagues in Professional Learning Communities to enhance curriculum and instructional practices.
• Integrate technology to enrich learning experiences and engage students.
• Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
• Contribute actively to school community initiatives.
