Title:Engineering Technician Mechanical - Instrumentation
Location: Independence, MO

Join the team supporting America's Warfighter as the World's largest small-caliber ammunition manufacturer. As an Engineering Technician Mechanical - Instrumentation you will serve in a critical role in supporting the design, development, testing, and maintenance of electrical systems and components. Technical expertise and attention to detail will ensure that all electrical systems meet the required specifications and operate efficiently.

Salary: $78,000- $99,600

Annual merit increase and company bonus will be included on top of base salary.

Schedule: Dayshift 4 - 10 hour shifts with overtime as needed.

This is a salary non-exempt position so overtime pay is available.

Engineer Technician - Electrical Essential Job Functions:
• Serve as a member of the Maintenance Instrumentation team, supporting alarm systems, process instrumentation, HVAC controls, and other site instrumentation and control systems.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain instrumentation and control equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
• Perform testing, analyze results, and develop recommendations for corrective actions and system improvements.
• Coordinate maintenance activities with other trades, contractors, and operations personnel to support process and facility needs.
• Source replacement parts and materials, including vendor communication and purchase order requests.
• Develop, update, and maintain instrumentation maintenance procedures and documentation.
• Provide technical training and mentoring to electricians, instrumentation technicians, and engineering technicians as needed.
• Prepare job estimates, including labor, materials, and resource requirements.
• Maintain accurate work records, schedules, and equipment history within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Stay current on emerging instrumentation technologies, industry best practices, and applicable training opportunities.

Engineer Technician - Electrical Minimum Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Controls automation training program or relevant certificate preferred.
  • 5 years relevant work experience with maintenance of Johnson Controls Metasys, DeltaV, Experitec or equivalent instrumentation systems
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with an understanding of control systems
  • Ability to read schematics, drawings, and work independently
  • Experience developing/creating and performing maintenance requirements for HVAC and process systems
  • Must be proficient with basic hand and power tools. Machining experience a plus
  • Proficient in MS Office and documentation
  • Overtime and weekend work may be required for this position.

Location-Specific Requirements:
  • Must possess a valid US driver's license
  • This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
  • This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, if required.
  • This position requires successful vetting for unescorted access in accordance with U.S. Army and Department of Defense access policies. The US Government does not allow non-US citizens on-site at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant. Therefore, to be considered in the hiring process, the candidate must be a US citizen.
