Engineering Quality Assurance Manager (Software) - Remote

The Engineering Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for directing the Quality Assurance function across multiple products and/or teams and is responsible for leading QA teams through the full lifecycle of work from concept to post-production support and maintenance of desktop and web applications.

What you'll do:
  • Lead and develop teams of QA Analysts and QA Automation Engineers supporting multiple products. Recruit, coach, mentor, and retain team members while managing performance, including improvement plans and employment decisions when necessary.
  • Establish and maintain QA standards, best practices, and processes that promote quality throughout the software development lifecycle. Ensure consistent adoption of Agile, Scrum, SAFe, and related team ceremonies.
  • Partner with Product Management, Engineering, Architects, and other stakeholders to embed quality into product development, align priorities with business objectives, and ensure solutions address customer and user needs.
  • Foster high-performing, collaborative teams by removing impediments, supporting self-organization, promoting transparency, and creating an environment of trust and continuous improvement.
  • Drive quality initiatives and operational excellence by championing built-in quality, Communities of Practice, process improvements, and regular reviews of team deliverables.
  • Contribute to product and technical roadmaps, headcount and budget planning, and quarterly performance evaluations. Balance team workloads and resources across product areas.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, consultants, and external partners while maintaining a customer-centric approach to quality and delivery.
  • Define and track meaningful quality and productivity metrics, assess and communicate risks, and challenge existing processes to improve outcomes.
  • Support software deployments by participating in release decisions, leading root cause analyses, and implementing improvements to strengthen future releases.
  • Lead team, departmental, and customer-facing meetings, and represent the QA organization in company-wide communications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • 6+ years of Quality Assurance experience.
  • 2+ years of experience leading teams.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, business acumen, and the ability to build and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Working knowledge of technologies used by supported teams, including:
    • Front-end: JavaScript, React, HTML5, CSS
    • Back-end: Linux, Apache, PHP, Node.js, Rustici, REST APIs, AWS Lambda, Amazon S3, SCIM, and SSO
    • Relational databases and web services (REST preferred)
  • Experience with source control and work management tools such as GitHub and Jira.
  • Strong understanding of Agile, Scrum, and SAFe frameworks and a commitment to reinforcing best practices.
  • Experience coaching and mentoring QA Analysts and QA Automation Engineers.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • This is a remote position; however, applicants must reside in and be able to legally work in the United States.

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:
  • Experience leading teams through growth, organizational change, product strategy shifts, process implementation, disciplinary actions, and onboarding initiatives.
  • Knowledge of data privacy and compliance standards, including PCI, PII, PHI, HIPAA, GDPR, and ADA.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Familiarity with QA automation tools and frameworks such as TestRail, PractiTest, Java, JavaScript, and Codeception.
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, containerization technologies (Docker and Kubernetes), and cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or GCP.
