Job Description:

Caterpillar's Earthmoving division is hiring an Engineering Project Team Leader to help drive innovation of our Medium Wheel Loader (MWL) products globally. As the Medium Wheel Loader Custom Lead, you will provide project management to product development of Medium Wheel Loader (MWL) custom product introductions through planning, coordination, & execution. Customers have unique needs and look to Caterpillar for innovative solutions to their needs. Many times, these custom solutions become a regular part of the product offerings. This position also works closely with Caterpillar Defense Products developing various solutions for the military.

This role requires excellent technical skills, project management, and effective project/daily assignment execution. Strong teamwork, collaboration, and organizational skills, along with solid technical background is essential. You will communicate technical information effectively with development engineers, management, process partners and dealers.

What You Will Do:
  • Provide technical and project leadership along with hands-on machine expertise to a team of engineers and technicians.
  • Lead and perform design work for projects that lead to direct sales of machines, configurations, and attachments to customers.
  • Lead and develop field dealer installed & factory kits and many unique solutions (ex. machine lifting, scrap handling, special guarding, and modified implement controls as past examples)
  • Partner with Caterpillar Defense Products in support of military applications, taking ownership of the development of new attachments and offerings.
  • Overseeing project progress and costs; communicating status with stakeholders and participating in functional areas; addressing and resolving problems as they arise.
  • Managing past designs and ensuring an assurance of supply as well as managing deviations as required.
  • Collaborate and lead engineering system teams to develop improvements or attachments that meet customer and business needs.
  • Mentoring junior engineers in the team.


What You Have (Basic Qualifications):
  • Degree requirement: bachelor's degree in engineering
  • Product Design and Development: Progressive knowledge of Medium Wheel Loader or similar construction products, ability to understand the design process and standards.
  • Managing Multiple Priorities: Proven ability to perform complex assignments, prioritize workload, and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent organizational, communication, and presentation skills are required. Willing and able to collaborate with international teams in various time zones.
  • Technical Excellence: Candidate must have strong analytical skills and can use various design software (Creo and Teamcenter or similar directly aligned software). Incumbent will develop and provide solutions for significant technical issues related to quality, velocity, and cost objectives.
  • Effective Communication: Strong communication skills, ability to manage multiple projects, and be a self-starter. Ability to build networks with people from different countries and cultures, think and work with them to bring positive impact and flourishing business results.

  • Strong knowledge of Medium Wheel Loader machines, design, or development related experience.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively communicate with Caterpillar's upper management as needed.
  • A strategic mindset with the ability to collaborate across multi-functional teams.
  • Clear communicator that can present to all levels of the organization.
  • Proven leadership and mediation skills and demonstrated capabilities with a focus on consensus building

  • United States citizenship is required.
  • Upto 10% domestic and international travel is expected.
  • Domestic relocation is available for those who qualify to Peoria, IL.

Summary Pay Range:

$128,470.00 - $192,710.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
