Job Location: Edgerton, KSHow will you fit in the big picture? At our Edgerton, KS location, the Assoc Mgr Project Engineer executes scoped engineering project and program management work that helps deliver safe, reliable, and efficient operations. This role applies established methods to moderately complex challenges, coordinates with engineering, operations, maintenance, and business partners, and supports testing, validation, and continuous improvement at Hershey, the Sweetest Place on Earth.
The successful candidate will support the Kansas Hub and must be flexible to travel between all three Kansas locations (Lawrence, Lenexa, and Edgerton) as business needs require. This position may be based at either our Lawrence, KS or Edgerton, KS facility.
What will you do? • Execute assigned engineering project or program management tasks using established technical procedures, documented requirements, and Hershey standards.
• Evaluate options and use system knowledge and data to recommend practical solutions to straightforward and moderately complex engineering or delivery issues.
• Partner with engineering, operations, maintenance, vendors, contractors, and business stakeholders to align requirements, constraints, testing, validation, and troubleshooting activities.
• Identify project dependencies, risks, and issues; escalate concerns promptly, support corrective actions, and track follow-ups through resolution.
• Support capital project activities such as feasibility assessments, cost estimates, equipment selection, installation, start-up, troubleshooting, and training coordination.
• Maintain clear project records, engineering documentation, and standard templates while supporting safety, quality, governance, traceability, and process improvement.
Minimum Education & RequirementsExperience: 3+ years of relevant experience in engineering, project management, program management, manufacturing, packaging, or a related technical area. Experience supporting projects in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field preferred, or equivalent relevant engineering experience.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot technical issues, analyze data, evaluate options, and support testing and validation.
• Strong project coordination, documentation, communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to build effective working relationships with internal partners, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders.
