Full Job Description
Position Purpose:

Responsible for leading customer-facing engineering and project management activities for the Engineered Axle Systems business unit, including ownership and maintenance of the engineering product matrix, development of product solutions, and coordination of activities needed to support customer requirements, address customer issues, and advance business opportunities.

This role serves as a key liaison between customers, sales, division and plant manufacturing engineering, and other cross-functional stakeholders to understand customer needs, translate them into technical solutions, and drive execution through the product development process.

The position provides technical leadership across product design, customer-driven solutions, and related product and process considerations affecting the Engineered Axle Systems portfolio. In partnership with the appropriate teams, this role supports the development, validation, and implementation of solutions that align with market needs, address technical and customer concerns, and support successful product execution.

Essential Functions:
  • Lead engineering project management activities for assigned Engineered Axle Systems programs and customer opportunities, including project planning, milestone tracking, cross-functional coordination, technical issue resolution, risk management, and execution of key deliverables.
  • Support business development opportunities by working with customers, sales, and cross-functional teams to understand technical requirements, evaluate needs, and develop practical product solutions and recommendations aligned with customer and business objectives.
  • Develop, validate, document, and release axle system, suspension system, and component designs, including engineering drawings, models, specifications, and related product data using Teamcenter and other engineering systems.
  • Own and maintain the engineering product matrix for the Engineered Axle Systems business unit, ensuring product offerings, technical requirements, approved configurations, and related guidance remain accurate, current, and aligned with customer and business needs.
  • Provide technical leadership directly to customers and across product design, partnering with manufacturing engineering and other stakeholders to develop manufacturable, commercially viable solutions.
  • Develop and manage design FMEAs, define and approve PPAP requirements, and work with test engineering and FEA resources to ensure new products, design changes, and process changes are properly analyzed, validated, documented, and ready for launch.
  • Communicate project status, technical risks, design issues, customer requirements, timing concerns, launch readiness, and support needs to business unit leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or similar disciplines.
  • 4-10 years of experience in designing, testing, or manufacturing transportation industry products.
  • Ability to manage and execute multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Good CREO 3D modeling and drafting skills.
  • Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with good organization and planning skills.

Physical Demands
  • Frequent sitting, work at a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Some limited duration travel should be anticipated.
