Job Title: Engineering Manager

Department: Engineering

Reports to: Plant Manager

Shift: 1st

Position Purpose

The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading and managing the engineering team to ensure the bridge between production needs, technical problem-solving, and continuous improvement. This role combines technical expertise, leadership, and strategic planning to drive innovation, efficiency, and quality across engineering operations.

Essential Duties and responsibilities

  • Coordinate and direct New Product Introduction projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and direct the integration into manufacturing.
  • Evaluate new business opportunities and prepare cost estimates and technical proposals.
  • Support program management and business development functions supporting business growth and strategic alignment.
  • Focal point for customer alignment of technical topics and proposals including NPI, non-conformances, and process variation.
  • Analyze technology; plan and assess their feasibility and assign/manage resources appropriately to deliver on-time and on-budget performance.
  • Ensure repeatability and reliability during the development of projects in a complex manufacturing environment.
  • Works with Production, Planning, Purchasing, Customer Service, Quality, and other groups as necessary to ensure on-time delivery and quality for Engineering Group deliverables (Bills of Material, Manufacturing Instructions, Engineering Change documentation, etc.).
  • Define group metrics to effectively monitor performance to site goals and key performance indicators.
  • Recruit employees; assign, direct, and evaluate their work; and oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence.
  • Create and manage the expense budget for the engineering department.
  • Responsible for following and enforcing all established Vaupell policies, standard operating procedures, and safety practices.

Job Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering and 7+ years' experience managing a multi-functional Engineering department.
  • Six Sigma certification preferred.
  • Experience with CAD software including Catia, SolidWorks & Mastercam.
  • Knowledge of composite manufacturing (materials, processing techniques and tooling concepts) and related aerospace standards (AS9100, NADCAP) desirable. (FOR VNY)
    • Knowledge of Injection Molding and Automation Techniques, as well as related aerospace standards (AS9100) is desirable. (FOR VNW/VMW) Medical)
  • Requires a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including NPI and Continuous Improvement.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and organizational skills necessary for effective interaction with high level customers and key individuals throughout the organization.
  • Requires a strong understanding of MRP/ERP and related manufacturing data systems, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Strong project management experience and meeting management skills, supported by effective verbal and written communication abilities.

  • Ability to read, speak, understand and follow instructions in English.

  • Must be able to wear and properly use the required personal protective equipment.


Candidates must be a "US Person" (i.e. US Citizen or Permanent Resident) to ensure Vaupell's compliance with ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) and EAR (Export Administration Regulations)

Environmental Condition

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and may occasionally be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and vibration. Noise levels in the work environment are typically moderate and may occasionally be loud.
