The Engineering Manager is a hands-on leadership role responsible for ensuring the efficient maintenance, repair, and operation of all facilities and equipment. This position plays a key role in upholding the highest standards of guest satisfaction, safety, and sustainability throughout the property.
The Engineering Manager oversees all aspects of maintenance operations-including construction, repair, and preventative programs-across multiple disciplines such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, masonry, and landscaping. This individual will lead by example, providing both managerial direction and hands-on support when needed.
Key Responsibilities:- Serve as a positive and professional representative of the Engineering Department, ensuring all work is completed efficiently and to standard.
- Lead, mentor, and motivate the Engineering team, fostering a culture of respect, collaboration, and integrity.
- Manage daily operations and maintenance priorities, including tracking and resolving reported issues.
- Oversee a comprehensive Preventative Maintenance Program for building systems, HVAC/refrigeration units, and mechanical equipment to minimize downtime and enhance guest experience.
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with vendors and contractors as directed by the Director of Engineering.
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with all other departments of the operation.
- Ensure timely response to maintenance emergencies, utilizing appropriate tools and technical expertise across multiple trades.
- Perform and oversee daily testing and monitoring of property pools in accordance with safety standards.
- Maintain proficiency in computer systems, including email, payroll software, Microsoft Office, and resort maintenance programs.
- Be available to support operations on weekends and holidays as needed to maintain seamless service.
- Reports directly to the General Manager.
Requirements:- Five years' experience in hotel engineering management.
- Availability to work weekends and holidays as required.
- CPO certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire).
- Valid driver's license.
- Strong working knowledge of building systems and maintenance trades (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, etc.).
