You'll guide the evolution of our front-end framework, shared services, developer tooling, build and deployment infrastructure, and lightweight backend services, with a focus on developer productivity, performance, reliability, and long-term maintainability. You'll partner across Engineering, Product, and Design to identify common challenges, establish technical direction, and make the right things easy for teams building on the platform. Our team of engineers are building with cutting-edge technologies, like Claude Code and Cursor, in a fast-moving, creative, progressive work environment.

You must be work authorized in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship.

The impact you will have:
  • Lead the UI Framework team responsible for the foundational systems and infrastructure that power Ridgeline's front-end applications
  • Set the strategy and technical direction for Ridgeline's UI framework while balancing long-term platform investments with the evolving needs of product engineering teams
  • Partner with product engineers to identify common challenges and build reusable solutions that accelerate product development across Ridgeline
  • Own and evolve the systems used to build, test, bundle, and deploy front-end code with a strong emphasis on reliability, performance, and developer experience
  • Guide the team's expansion into lightweight backend services and infrastructure that support front-end capabilities and emerging developer workflows
  • Champion developer productivity through APIs, utilities, documentation, automation, CLIs, lint rules, AI workflows, and other tooling that make the platform intuitive and easy to adopt
  • Shape how AI changes front-end development at Ridgeline by ensuring our framework, tooling, and workflows enable engineers and AI agents to build and maintain high-quality software effectively
  • Establish a high bar for operational excellence so the foundational systems relied upon across Engineering are observable, reliable, performant, and maintainable
  • Stay close to the technical architecture and engineering work, reviewing designs and pull requests and helping the team make pragmatic, high-quality decisions
  • Coach, develop, and retain talented engineers while creating clear expectations, providing actionable feedback, and helping team members grow their technical, architectural, and leadership impact
  • Identify and attract strong engineering talent as the team grows, building a resilient, collaborative, and high-performing organization
  • Build strong partnerships across Engineering, Design, and Product, influencing technical direction beyond the boundaries of the team and communicating priorities and tradeoffs with transparency
  • Think creatively, own problems, seek solutions, and communicate clearly along the way
  • Contribute to a collaborative environment rooted in learning, teaching, and transparency

What we look for:
  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 2+ years in a software engineering management or technical leadership role
  • Demonstrated experience building and evolving front-end architectures for large, modern web applications
  • Deep understanding of core web technologies including JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, and CSS, and modern front-end ecosystems such as React
  • Strong working knowledge of front-end build and development tooling such as Webpack, ESBuild, Bun, Jest, and related technologies
  • Experience with CI/CD, build pipelines, bundling, deployment infrastructure, or other systems supporting the front-end software development lifecycle
  • Experience designing platform APIs, frameworks, shared services, or developer tooling used by multiple engineering teams
  • Understanding of backend and cloud infrastructure supporting modern web applications, including technologies such as Node.js, AWS, containers, and infrastructure as code
  • Experience leading teams where AI is becoming an integral part of the software development lifecycle and a strong perspective on how platforms can enable AI-assisted development
  • Ability to lead with and without formal authority, influence technical direction, and build consensus across teams
  • Experience balancing foundational platform investments with immediate product needs and communicating those tradeoffs clearly to stakeholders
  • A track record of hiring, developing, and retaining engineering talent while building healthy, high-performing teams
  • Willingness to learn about cutting-edge technologies while cultivating expertise in a business domain/problem space.
  • An aptitude for problem solving
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Serious interest in having fun at work

Bonus:
  • Prior experience leading platform, developer infrastructure, shared-services, or developer experience teams
  • Experience operating front-end platforms or build systems used by a large number of engineers and applications
  • Experience with TypeScript-first frameworks and large-scale React applications
  • Experience with AWS services such as Cloudfront and S3, infrastructure as code, or containerized architectures
  • Experience improving front-end performance, build performance, or developer feedback loops at scale
