Full Job Description
Engineering Manager, System Performance Algorithms

This is a visible engineering leadership role for someone who wants to shape the calibration software and algorithms behind advanced semiconductor system-on-chip (SOC) test systems. You will lead a team responsible for turning instrument capability into repeatable, production-ready measurement accuracy across digital, DC, and AC/RF measurement instruments used within automated test platforms. The work directly affects instrument performance, system uptime, manufacturing throughput, product quality, and customer confidence.

Why This Role Matters
  • Calibration is a core enabler of SOC test system performance, accuracy, and repeatability.
  • This team develops the software, algorithms, data analysis methods, and engineering practices that make high-precision instruments production-ready.
  • The right leader will help scale calibration capability across platforms while improving accuracy, reducing calibration time, and strengthening manufacturing readiness.

What You Will Do
  • Guide the calibration software and algorithm roadmap for digital, DC, and AC/RF measurement instruments used in SOC test systems.
  • Lead and develop a team of hardware and software-oriented calibration engineers, setting clear priorities, technical direction, and delivery expectations.
  • Lead automated calibration algorithm development that improves measurement accuracy, reduces calibration cycle time, and supports scalable manufacturing deployment.
  • Oversee integration of calibration routines into Teradyne's IG-XL test software environment and related maintenance software workflows, including C#-based workflows and supporting automation.
  • Use calibration data, statistical process control, and failure trends to identify systemic improvements, reduce downtime, and improve successful completion of calibration or test workflows on the first attempt.
  • Partner closely with hardware, software, manufacturing, quality, and product teams to ensure calibration methods support product requirements, compliance expectations, and customer use cases.
  • Build a team culture focused on engineering rigor, accountability, continuous improvement, and practical innovation.

What Success Looks Like
  • Calibration solutions are delivered with clear technical ownership, predictable execution, and measurable impact on accuracy, throughput, uptime, or manufacturability.
  • The team scales beyond individual expertise through better tools, reusable algorithms, disciplined reviews, and stronger cross-functional alignment.
  • Hardware, software, manufacturing, and quality partners have confidence in the calibration roadmap, technical decisions, and readiness plans.

Required Qualifications

You do not need to match every possible technology listed below. We are looking for an engineering leader with the technical depth to guide calibration software and the leadership capability to build an effective, collaborative team.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related technical field.
  • 8+ years of relevant engineering experience, including experience leading engineering teams or technical projects that deliver production-quality software, algorithms, test capability, or instrumentation solutions.
  • Practical understanding of calibration, instrumentation, automated test equipment, semiconductor test, high-precision measurement systems, or related domains.
  • Software fluency sufficient to guide algorithm development, automation, debugging, and integration in environments such as C#, C/C++, Python, IG-XL, or similar test software frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across hardware, software, manufacturing, quality, and product teams while communicating clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with semiconductor or electronics manufacturing environments, including new product introduction (NPI), production test, or manufacturing readiness.
  • Familiarity with statistical process control, data analytics, predictive maintenance, Six Sigma methods, ISO, NIST, or other calibration and quality standards.
  • Experience improving measurement accuracy, calibration cycle time, test throughput, system uptime, yield, or first-pass success in a complex engineering environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with SOC test systems, ATE platforms, RF/AC instrumentation, DC instrumentation, or digital instrument calibration.
  • Background leading teams that combine software, hardware, data analysis, and system-level debug.
  • Track record of mentoring engineers, improving engineering process, and developing repeatable methods rather than depending on isolated individual contributions.

Why Candidates Should Be Excited
  • You will work on technically challenging calibration problems where software, precision measurement, instrumentation, and manufacturing scale all intersect.
  • You will have the opportunity to influence both technical architecture and team capability, not just manage task execution.
  • You will lead work that has visible impact on product performance, manufacturing readiness, customer confidence, and long-term platform scalability.

Fast-Fit Candidate Profile

This role may be a good fit if you have led engineers in semiconductor test, ATE, instrumentation, calibration, manufacturing test, systems software, test automation, or high-precision measurement environments and want to lead a team whose work directly improves product performance and production readiness.

We encourage candidates to apply even if they do not meet every qualification. If your experience is closely related and you are excited about leading calibration software for complex test systems, we would like to hear from you.

Compensation:
The base salary range for this role is $ $201,000 - $321,600. This range is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with experience and skill set. This range can also fluctuate depending on demand and location.
Incentive Plan: This job is eligible for discretionary bonus(es) based on financial performance.

Benefits:

Teradyne offers a variety of robust health and well-being benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, Flexible Spending Accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance, paid vacation & holidays, tuition assistance programs, and more. Please click here to see details.
