Overview

The Engineering Manager is responsible for all on-site engineering and maintenance functions, providing the proper and timely execution of projects. The Engineering Manager leads, directs, and oversees all aspects of engineering, maintenance, and project planning and execution, creating a team-oriented environment that encourages excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Launches new equipment into production and sustains reengineering of existing equipment quality, cost and delivery improvement.
  • Maintain inventory of equipment/tools/spare parts, setup/work instructions, and TPM maintenance to benchmark the organization’s knowledge base.
  • Leads and directs the engineering and maintenance teams.
  • Manages and directs the timely execution of projects, from inception to completion.
  • Leads and advises teams, gathering and analyzing manufacturing process to identify key issues and bringing corrective action, to drive toward Company objectives.
  • Technical problem solving, with the ability to exercise independent judgment.
  • Identifying, investigating and implementing innovation technology solutions.
  • Development and management of design changes and/or upgrades.
  • Provide training and direction in the development and implementation of production and process improvements through root cause analysis and corrective action.
  • Innovative and creativity motivation of staff, creating a culture and passion of continuous improvement.
  • Drives and supports continuous improvement initiatives, supporting strategic and operational initiatives.
  • Participates in annual strategic budgeting and planning process, with department budgeting responsibility.
  • Focus design efforts on delivering cost effective, manufacturable solutions
  • Lead activities to identify and development new materials and technologies
  • Support component manufacturing and sourcing activities
  • Define engineering specifications and test protocols
  • Support new product production launch activities
  • Monitors employee performance to track progress
  • Monitors scheduled vs. actual work to ensure that targets are met
  • Analyzes and reports on KPIs
  • Responsible for ensuring proper employee training is in place and documented.
  • Addresses problems or concerns immediately (e.g., service, operations, scheduling, personnel) and gets appropriate parties involved.
  • Developing 12-month plan with staffing levels and skills based on forecast, seasonality and historical needs. Developing and creating job requisitions that will meet our needs. Working with Operations Manager to create an interview process that will adequately evaluate the candidate’s qualifications, skill level and aptitude.
  • Provides expert technical guidance for engineering initiatives.
  • Develop a rolling 6-month cross training plan to provide all personnel with the skills needed to perform their jobs with a focus on further development.
  • Consistently complete employee reviews on schedule. Focusing on specific areas of improvement, goals ranging from 1 month to 1 year with specific deliverables and actions. Goals should reflect the mission and vision of operations department specifically for that employee’s role. Soliciting and utilizing employee feedback for their own development.

Qualifications
  • Engineering and Technology - Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
  • Design - Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Mechanical - Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Mathematics - Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
  • Physics - Knowledge and prediction of physical principles, laws, their interrelationships, and applications to understanding fluid, material, and atmospheric dynamics, and mechanical, electrical, atomic and sub- atomic structures and processes.
  • Planning/Organizing 6 the individual prioritizes and plans work activities and uses time efficiently and completes work in a timely manner. Proven ability to manage multiple projects to a deadline.
  • Quality control 6 the individual demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness, monitors own work to ensure quality and applies feedback to improve performance. Attentive to detail. Strong organizational skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS / EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE

Working Conditions: Majority will be an inside office environment.

Physical Demands: Regularly required to stand or sit and move about the facility.

Education and Formal Training:

  • Masters Degree in Engineering preferred.

Experience:

  • 5+ years engineering management experience in manufacturing environment, overseeing a group of at least 5 employees.
  • Ability to drive root cause analyses
  • Component or product manufacturing experience preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other software or technology as relevant to this position.
  • Certification in Autodesk Inventor or Solid Works a plus
  • ERP system knowledge, SAP is a plus.

The pay for this position is dependent upon experience, between $122,199.00 - $165,280.50.
