Full Job Description
Role

The Seller Growth Engineering team is responsible for helping new sellers succeed on Whatnot-from their seller application, to their very first livestream, to building thriving businesses. Within Seller Growth, the Seller Lifecycle Growth/Enterprise team is building the systems that give every seller the knowledge, guidance, and confidence they need to activate, grow, and scale.

As the Engineering Manager for Seller Lifecycle Growth/Enterprise, you'll lead the team responsible for building Whatnot's seller onboarding and education platform. You'll own the systems that identify seller potential early and power differentiated onboarding and education experiences based on predicted long-term value. You'll partner closely with Product, Design, Data Science, and Marketing to create educational experiences that are personalized throughout the seller journey. You'll define the technical strategy for how Whatnot coaches sellers to be successful.

This is a unique opportunity to build not only customer-facing experiences, but also the underlying content systems, tooling, and platform capabilities that enable Whatnot to educate sellers with one consistent voice across the product, internal teams, etc

In addition, you'll:
  • Hire, develop, and grow a high-performing team of engineers across backend, web, and mobile.
  • Partner closely with Product and Design to define the long-term vision for seller education and the technical investments needed to support it.
  • Drive platform investments that enable educational content to be delivered contextually throughout the seller experience rather than existing as standalone documentation.
  • Build and own experimentation, measurement frameworks, and goals around seller education impacting seller activation, engagement, retention, and business growth.
  • Plan and execute ambitious cross-functional projects while coordinating dependencies across Engineering, Marketing, and international product teams.
  • Foster a strong engineering culture centered around ownership, technical excellence, and rapid iteration.

We offer flexibility to work from home or from one of our global office hubs, and we value in-person time for planning, problem-solving, and connection. Team members in this role must live within commuting distance of our New York or San Francisco hub.
