We are looking for a
Engineering Manager located in
Rockyview, AB (near Calgary).The Engineering Manager supports the execution of engineered-to-order fabrication projects by bridging engineering, sales, operations, supply chain, and project management.
This role is focused on
front-end engineering, technical evaluation, and feasibility assessment during the inquiry and quoting phase, while also supporting early project setup for awarded work.
The Engineering Manager plays a key role in ensuring that customer requirements, technical specifications, material availability, and shop capacity are aligned
before commercial commitments are finalized, reducing execution risk and improving project predictability.
This position is intended as a
developmental role that provides broad exposure to the full project lifecycle and prepares the individual for deeper technical, project, or operational leadership responsibilities over time.

What You Will Do:Front-End Engineering & Quoting Support - Review customer specifications, datasheets, and inquiry documentation to establish technical requirements and design basis
- Support conceptual and preliminary design development in collaboration with Engineering
- Prepare technical input for quotes, including:
- Scope definition
- Design assumptions
- Key risks and exclusions
- Identify technical complexity, fabrication challenges, and execution constraints early in the inquiry phase
- Support engineering-led pricing by providing design-based input into material and labor assumptions
Cross-Functional Feasibility & Risk Assessment - Coordinate internally with:
- Engineering to confirm design feasibility and standards
- Operations to validate high-level shop loading, sequencing, and execution constraints
- Supply Chain to identify long-lead materials, vendor risks, and procurement constraints
- Surface execution risks, constraints, and trade-off options prior to finalizing delivery commitments
- Document key assumptions and risks to enable informed commercial decision-making
Project Handover & Early Execution Support - Support clean handoff of awarded projects to Project Management, including:
- Defined scope and assumptions
- Identified risks and mitigation strategies
- Technical clarification of quoted configurations
- Assist with early engineering coordination to ensure drawings, documentation, and material requirements align with execution strategy
- Provide technical clarification during early project phases as required
Technical Communication & Continuous Improvement - Act as a technical point of contact for internal clarification questions during quoting and early project phases
- Support development and refinement of standard designs, templates, and estimating inputs
- Capture lessons learned from executed projects to improve future feasibility assessments and quoting accuracy
- Improve clarity and consistency of internal communication between functions
Reporting Relationship - Reports functionally within Engineering.
- Works closely with Sales, Project Management, Operations, and Supply Chain
- Receives direction and prioritization in support of commercial commitments from the Site / Business Manager
Position Details:- Candidate must reside in Calgary, AB or the surrounding area.
- Work schedule: 4 days from the office and 1 day from home.
- Full-time position, 40 hours/week.
- Immigration sponsorship is not available for this position.
Minimum Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, or related discipline).
- P.Eng required.
- 5+ years of experience in an engineered-to-order, fabrication, or industrial manufacturing environment.
- Any software or program requirements?
- Strong technical aptitude with the ability to interpret specifications and drawings
- Working knowledge of fabrication processes, materials, and industrial equipment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly across disciplines
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience supporting proposals, estimating, or front-end engineering
- Exposure to shop operations, production planning, or supply chain coordination
- Familiarity with pressure equipment, mechanical design, or industrial process systems
- Experience in cross-functional or matrixed environments
